Cox Mill: 31-15-18-18 : 84
Jay M. Robinson: 12-17-18-14 : 61

Basketball is back for the public schools, as Phenom Hoops checking in at Jay M. Robinson as they welcomed in Cox Mill. It looked to be a fantastic matchup.

Cox Mill came out strong, using a balanced attack, getting after it on both ends, pushing the pace, and attacking the lane while also knocking a few shots from deep.  They played really well offensively, as they scored 31 first-quarter points to go up big early on.  Jay M. Robinson started to find more of their offense both in the second and third quarter.  But the balance and depth of Cox Mill, much like they have done before, was just too much, with Cox Mill finishing with nine players in the scoresheet.  In the end, Cox Mill's offense and ability to play their pace, as well as score inside, helped secure the 84-61 win on the road to start the season.

Standouts:

2021 Chris Hunter (Cox Mill): Hunter showed a nice ability to be a strong ballhandler, helping initiate the offense and attack, creating for others but also attacking the lane and scoring; had a nice balance in his offensive game and made a few strong finishes. After knocking down a couple of threes in the first half, he was aggressive off the dribble in the second.

2023 Daevin Hobbs (Jay M. Robinson): Only a sophomore but Hobbs really showed to be one of the go-to players for Robinson. A prospect with good size, knows how to stretch the floor, can handle and create for himself, and is usually matched up with a bg. Defends in the paint and really showed to be a matchup nightmare on the court. Event knocked down two three's in the third quarter.

2021 Zach Riddle (Cox Mill): Riddle got Cox Mill off strong, being active on both ends, running the floor well, and attacked the rim. Really liked his motor that he played with on both ends, making those extra-effort plays and was active on the boards.

2022 Marcus Morgan (Cox Mill): Morgan played with great tempo and pace on the court, pushing when he could, seeing the floor, providing another ballhandler on the court, and had a nice balance scoring and finding others on the court.
