Fuquay Varina gets a big win over Heritage. This game was filled with lots of talent all over the court. It was a hard-fought game between two really good teams.

Standout Players

Ryan Maslow 6’7 2021 Fuquay Varina

He was everywhere on the court last night. It’s hard not to fall in love with his energy and passion on the court. His activity caused chaos the whole game. He did a tremendous job using his length by getting multiple deflections and steals.  With his size and activity, he was big time on the glass. (10 Rebounds) He has a tremendous basketball IQ and makes the right basketball play almost every time down the court. He has the unique ability to create plays for himself and others. I wouldn’t be surprised with his size and skillset if he had a triple double this year.  He finished the game with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Sheick Samoura 2021 Fuquay Varina

Sheick did a tremendous job impacting the game on both sides of the ball. He does a tremendous job getting to the rim off the bounce. His length and athleticism allow him to be such a matchup nightmare on the court. Also, uses his length and athleticism to block and alter shots. He finished the game with 22 points and 5 rebounds.

Mayar Wol 6’8 2022 Fuquay Varina

The 6’8 forward has tons of potential. For his size, I was really impressed with his feel for the game and his ability to knock down shots from the perimeter. He hit the game tying shot from half court. The more comfortable he gets on the court, the higher his ceiling will be. His length allows him to block / alter shots and also be a force on the glass. Finished the game with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Lucas Taylor 6’6 Heritage High School (Clemson Signee)

It is really easy to see why Lucas Taylor will be playing in the ACC next year. Every time you watch him play you are more and more impressed with everything; he is able to do on the court. He is one of the most gifted scorers in the state. He can score the ball at all 3-levels. He has a great first step which allows him to get past defenders. Also, he has the length and athleticism to finish above the rim once he gets there. He also has a really good mid-range game whether it’s pull-ups or floaters. He is going to have a tremendous senior year. He finished with a game high 35 points.

Justin Monden 5’10 Heritage High School

Justin is a small, crafty, shifty guard. What he lacks in size he makes up for it with his heart and toughness. He has a great basketball IQ and does a really good running the show for Heritage. He puts his teammates in positions where they will succeed. The paint touch guard also does a good job finding ways to finish around the rim. Also, has a smooth shooting stroke from the perimeter. Finished the game with 18 points.
