We tuned in on Tuesday for an early showdown between EE Smith and Westover.  Westover was looking to continue their winning ways while EE Smith was looking to notch their second win on the season.  Westover came out strong early in the first quarter, helping secure a 16-8 lead after the first quarter.  Their defense, especially their zone, created some havoc for EE Smith early but the Golden Bulls started to get some outside shots to fall and also create some opportunities with their defense. Westover led by 15 points in the second quarter before EE Smith played well to end the first half, as Westover led 29-21 at halftime.

Much like the second quarter, Westover came out strong offensively and built back their double-digit lead but EE Smith is just a pesky, hard-working team that didn't give up in this one.  Just when you thought Westover was going to run away with it, EE Smith came battling back to cut it down two eight points at the end of three, 43-35.

Fourth quarter came and it had the makings of being a battle.  Westover continued to maintain their lead but give credit when due, as EE Smith continued to attack and stay aggressive, slowly chipping away at the lead.  It came down at the free throw line for Westover, as they were able to make just enough in the end to hold on but EE Smith gave it everything they had.  Westover secured the tough 57-54 win at home.

Player of the Game: 2021 D'Marco Dunn (Westover)

Dunn played really well in this outing, scoring 27 points in leading the charge.  They needed every point from the North Carolina commit in this one.  Dunn plays with tremendous poise on the floor, showing that he can really operate on multiple areas of the floor. He continued to show that he can hurt you from outside with his jumper but also did a tremendous job in penetrating the defense and using his size to finish well or to find his teammates.  Dunn continues to put on a show each night at Westover and did it once again.  He scored from all levels of the floor, saw the floor well, made good decisions, and picked his spots in where to attack.
