It was a fantastic night of high school basketball, as two premier programs squared off Tuesday night. Chambers hit the road and was looking for a huge win, as they took on Myers Park in front of a hostile crowd.  Both teams played well early on, as 2023 Nick Dorn was feeling it big time in the first half, while it was a balanced attack for Myers Park. Chambers was able to get a 19-16 first-quarter lead and they continued to maintain that narrow lead by halftime, ultimately leading 30-25.

At the start of the second half, 2024 Sir Mohammed started to get going for his team, getting to the line and being more assertive.  With his play, along with others from Myers Park, they were able to regain the lead by the end of three quarters, 45-40.  Fourth quarter, that ultimately was deciding factor as Chambers was able to really amp up their energy and make a run, allowing their defense to turn into offense, creating multiple turnovers, and being aggressive to score and get to the line.  Chambers was able to outscore Myers Park 31-15 in the fourth quarter, as Chambers ultimately secured the impressive road win 71-60.

Standouts:

Chambers:

2023 Nick Dorn: Dorn came out firing and was feeling it in the first half. He didn't settle for his three-point shot, as he was able to put the ball on the deck and get inside the arch to score around the basket or pull up.' But he also hit some big threes in the game, showing his ability to be a scorer from all levels. Really stepped up big in a big-time game. Dorn finished the game with 20pts.

2023 Jahmir Brown/ 2023 Marcus Brown: Both started out a little slow but did they step up in the second half. Both made strong plays on the defensive end, creating havoc and creating turnovers to ultimately turn into points. But they also played strong in not settling, making plays off the bounce, and finishing well or getting to the line.'Jahmir had 14 points and 6 steals, while Marcus finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds.

Also will need to credit 2024 Maurio Hanson and 2024 Jordan Patton, as they both made strong plays in the fourth quarter and stepped up big for their team.

Myers Park:

2024 Sir Mohammed: Mohammed started out slow but got it going in the second half. He was able to show more of his ability to make strong plays and get inside the paint, getting to the line, and scoring in a variety of levels.' Mohammed continues to show his smooth feel and IQ, along with his strength in creating. He finished with 15 points to lead the way.

2023 Elijah Strong: Strong had some good moments throughout the game but I have to credit not only his ability to be strong around the basket offensively but also his defensive presence down in the paint. He walled up, bodied up against defenders, and helped on the boards. Strong had 13 points for his team.
