Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Tyson Barrett
Class: 2023
Committed to: Johnson C. Smith

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'No matter the setting or context, folks can rely on Barrett to stand out as a constant leader and tone-setter for the Pharaohs. He has a low-maintenance way of producing within the flow of the offense and capitalizing on finishing opportunities from rebounds, post-ups, and off-ball cuts. Barrett draws fouls on a consistent basis and knocks down free throws at a nice percentage. He's a quality rebounder and defender with the necessary size and athleticism to contain multiple positions. Barrett should appeal to a variety of scholarship-level programs.'

'Barrett opened plenty of eyes during the Team Camp this summer and he did so once again on Day 1.  It is why many schools are showing more interest his way.  But more could enter the picture if he consistently plays like he did.  He finishes well at the rim, runs the floor, can make his presence felt defensively and, on the glass, makes good passes to find his teammates, and shows he can step out at times as well.'

'Although the balance was easy to see throughout this squad, Barrett still stands out as a main leader for this group. His blend of size, length, and athleticism allows him to consistently overwhelm opponents on either side of the ball. Barrett is an explosive finisher, but also possesses ability out of the post. He can knock down shots, make solid passes, and outwork others on the glass. Barrett also displays great defensive instincts and knows how to run the floor effectively in transition.'

'Although numerous guys were sidelined, Tyson Barrett had no issue showcasing his length, explosiveness, and useful skillset. His calling card typically lies within being the most athletic player in the gym, but has the flashes of skill and versatility to cause matchup problems for opposing forwards. Barrett finishes strong with both hands around the rim, but also showed the ability to knock down jumpers at a solid clip. He's a capable ball-handler for his size/position and can overwhelm opponents with his blend of fluidity and sheer activity. Barrett is arguably at his best in the open floor, but moves well without the ball and positions himself to make plays on both ends. He's a solid passer with toughness, rebounding ability, and defensive instincts. Expect a healthy range of programs to get involved throughout the upcoming season.'
