Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Trenton Gerald
Class: 2023
Committed to: Wake Tech

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'He is very physical forward and hasn't really been playing competitively until freshmen year; he didn't play travel basketball until last year with Team Synergy but his biggest leap I believe was this past season with AK he provided a lot of valuable minutes off the bench and led them in charges taken. So he is definitely someone extremely willing to do the dirty work and put his body on the line. Coming into the travel season, I didn't know what I was going to get from him as far as production but he ended up stepping up big with us and starting alongside Tai Hamilton all season. He is extremely explosive off two putting a lot of people on posters. He is starting to expand his midrange game and back to the basketball. His confidence grew tremendously this summer and I expect him to be a huge part of AK's success this year.'

'The younger brother of Peyton Gerald who is now at Catawba College, Trenton could see his role increase even more this year at Ardrey Kell and be a key piece for his team in what he provides.  He has certainly put in the work this summer and his body/game has continued to develop.  And when you talk about his game, Gerald continues to get stronger and uses his strong frame to his advantage, whether it is battling and being physical on the boards or getting putbacks and scoring around the basket.'

'Although Gerald is currently averaging 5.8 PPG and 4.5 RPG, he's the type of player whose value cannot be accurately depicted from raw stats. His motor, toughness, and incredibly unselfish two-way identity are what make him such an obvious difference-maker. This season, Gerald has taken the third-most charges (25) in the entire state while playing with nonstop energy and filling in the gaps however possible. He's a capable finisher but doesn't look to force the action, and understands how to consistently do the little things on both ends of the floor. Every team needs a selfless player like Gerald.'
