Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Lady Phenom: What made UT-Martin the program for you in the end' What all went into your decision'
Blackwell: I made a list of some things that really mattered in where I go to school and play basketball, and I really thought about it and researched. I love the staff there and I just can’t think of another school that I would want to go to. UT-Martin is where I want to be.
Lady Phenom: What stood out on the basketball side for you'
Blackwell: I love the culture there and the way Coach McMillan runs his program altogether.
Lady Phenom: What did the staff say when you told them you were committing'
Blackwell: They were very excited and congratulatory. Coach McMillian said it made his day.
Lady Phenom: With your commitment now done, what are you going to be focusing on'
Blackwell: Really just getting better at the little things, and improving my craft for college.
What Was Said by Phenom:
“One player that caught our eye with her play was 2025 Sidney Blackwell from Porter Ridge. She is coming off two impressive seasons and has a chance to make even bigger waves with her play as a junior this year. She finished averaging 11.1ppg as a freshman and backed that up with an impressive sophomore campaign in which she averaged 16.3ppg. And in that sophomore season, she shot 42 percent from the floor and also hit 72 3-pointers. Now, Blackwell has a chance to really make a big impression with her play and she started it off well with what we saw at the event. She was extremely crafty and creative with the ball in her hands, doing extremely well in smoothly creating, getting downhill, and creating space to find her shot. And she also displayed that confident shot-making ability with range as well from time to time, really bringing a balanced attack. When you watch her operate, she plays at a great pace, understands how to be an effective scoring weapon as well as get others involved, and just makes smart play after smart play.”
