Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Wyatt DeGraaf
Class: 2024
Committed to: Brown
What Has Been Said:
“At a strong, fluid 6-foot-10, DeGraaf is a straightforward big man with athleticism, defensive instincts, and the ability to control the glass. He’s a reliable pick-and-roll partner and post-up option, physical enough to battle through contact when securing position or finishing around the basket. DeGraaf is comfortable knocking down the occasional perimeter jumper from midrange or beyond the arc, but typically does most of his work within the paint. He runs the floor properly in transition and shows the understanding of how to operate in various different defensive coverages. Given his archetype, physical profile, low-maintenance identity, and clear upside, DeGraaf should be a target for way more programs.”
“At 6-foot-10 with strength, mobility, and vertical explosiveness, it’s incredibly difficult to make sense of DeGraaf’s recruitment. He showcased the ability to make a constant impact as the focal point. He does a great job of battling for post position, passing from the block, reposting, and conducting the offense with his back to the basket. He finishes with power above the rim, but also displays touch around the basket. DeGraaf is more than capable of facing up and attacking off the bounce, knocking down the occasional jumper, or reliably executing two-man actions. He’s a useful screener with an understanding of how to slip, dive to the rim, and force switches. DeGraaf also plays hard on both ends while controlling the glass and anchoring the paint defensively.”
“He is a name that we saw earlier this summer but you can see that this young big man has been working hard in developing his game and feel. He isn’t a dominating big yet but there is a lot to like by what he provides on the floor. DeGraaf runs and moves extremely for his size, from end to end. He also shows that he is active down in the paint on both ends, whether it is offensively, keeping the ball high, having active hands, and showing good touch around the rim, or if it is defensively, getting on the boards and being a nice presence in the paint.” – 2021
“One of the more underrated bigs in the class, DeGraaf checks off boxes that you like with his 6’10 frame, his feel down in the paint offensively, his ability to step out, and also his potential of what he ultimately can become. He plays hard, battles well on the boards, and has a nice presence down low. A smart prospect on and off the court, DeGraaf should see his stock rise more this season.”
