The Phenom Challenge is one of the biggest events around the region and in the country, as 180 teams look to compete at the highest level.

We are expecting a HUGE turnout for this event in Spartanburg, SC on April 26-28. So, Phenom Hoop Report wants to do our part in starting the buzz for the event.

Players and teams, of all ages, will have a chance to play in front of college coaches throughout the weekend. But here are a few players to watch out for, as we preview teams that will be competing.

Check out a few names to look out for.

Team: Upward Stars Upstate Yount -17U

Player: Dorian Miles (Class- 2020, Position- F/C, Height- 6’7)

Dorian is a versatile big man who can play forward or center. He establishes great position, is a good rebounder, and can shoot pick and pop 3s already. He finishes with soft touch around the rim and plays solid positional defense. A fun stat- Dorian is averaging 3.5 charges drawn per game this spring.

Player: Zach Laird (Class- 2020, Position- Combo Guard, Height- 6’1)

Zach is a shifty guard who can play either guard spot with ease. He shoots the ball well off of the dribble and the catch and uses crafty hesitation dribbles and change of pace moves to get to whatever spot he wants to on the floor. Zach has surprising athleticism and a high motor.

Player: Alex Cunningham (Class- 2020, Position- SG, Height- 6’2)

Alex is a shooting guard with good athleticism who plays really hard, attacks the rim ruthlessly, and never backs down from a challenge. The better the opponent, the better Al plays. He puts his head down and gets to the paint whenever he wants, shoots well off of the catch, and rebounds and defends like a much bigger wing.

Player: Jai Ferguson (Class- 2020, Position- Wing, Height- 6’4)

Jai is an athletic wing who is constantly improving. After sitting out most of the school season with an injury, Jai has bounced back in a big way. He’s shifty and gets to the rim at ease where he finishes above the rim. He’s a good defender and plays with high energy and effort at all times.
