The Phenom Challenge is one of the biggest events around the region and in the country, as 180 teams look to compete at the highest level.

We are expecting a HUGE turnout for this event in Spartanburg, SC on April 26-28.  So, Phenom Hoop Report wants to do our part in starting the buzz for the event.

Players and teams, of all ages, will have a chance to play in front of college coaches throughout the weekend.  But here are a few players to watch out for, as we preview teams that will be competing.

Check out a few names to look out for.

Team: NC Spartans East 17u

Jake Ledbetter

Jake is one of the premier shooters in the state of NC.  In addition to his shooting prowess, he also handles the ball very well and is an excellent passer, averaging over 3 assists per game for his state championship high school team.

Isaac Spainhour

Combo G
6’2

Issac does everything on the court at a high level- dribble, pass, and shoot.  He makes his teammates better and plays harder than anyone else on the floor.  He is his high school’s all time leading scorer, a feat he achieved in his junior season.

Whit Trevey

Whit is one of the top shooters on the national power Greensboro Day School high school team.  High IQ, unselfish play, tough defender, and knock down shooter.

Noah Allred

Noah is a matchup nightmare for other teams.  He can score in the paint, mid-range, and consistently makes 3s.  Playing a year up, he has proven himself in each game/event thus far and is looking to continue to cement himself as one of the top underclassmen in NC.

Ori Kedem

6’3
Combo

Ori is a hidden gem in NC.  He attends American Hebrew Academy and looks to have a breakout spring and summer with the NC Spartans.  A high-level defender, crafty with the basketball, and quick on is feet, Ori is one to watch in 2019.

Eric Wiles

6’3
Combo

The strong and skilled wing from Starmount High School joins the NC Spartans this season after being with Team Felton in the past.  Wiles can do everything on the court and his strength and touch set him apart from other players at his position.  Look for Wiles stock to rise quickly this spring.

Trey Dezern
6’1
2020
Combo

Dezern is a quick and crafty guard that can dribble, pass, and shoot at a high level.  Excellent court vision and the ability to use and finish with both hands.  Plays extremely hard and will be one to watch throughout the spring and summer.

Cason Pierce
6’7
2020
Forward

Cason is a coach’s dream- high IQ on and off the court, extremely vocal, and plays very hard on both ends.  Super skilled in the post and facing the basket.  Outworks everyone who tries to guard him on both ends of the floor and is super efficient offensively.  His stock will skyrocket after the live period.
