One of the more underrated players in the state of North Carolina is 2021 6’3 Calik Thomas from Rocky River high school. Here is a 6’3 combo guard that averaged 18.7 points per game, 7.8 rebounds, shot 54 percent from the floor, and 48 percent from three (54 made 3-pointers).

Thomas is a guard that simply does it all.  He can drive and finish, shoot off the dribble, and showcase range in his game.  He also impacts the game in several other ways, which is why college coaches should be paying attention more his way.

Phenom Hoops reached out to learn the latest with Thomas.  How this past season went for him, his game, and what’s the latest with his recruitment.

Check out what he had to say.

PHR: How was this past season for you and what were you able to show with your game?

Thomas: It was a bumpy season with the wins and losses but I feel like this season helped me a lot as a player by allowing me to have the opportunity to step up and be the playmaker and control the game.  I feel like I was able to show how I could score the ball in different areas and also be a playmaker.

PHR: How would you best describe your game on the court and your mindset?

Thomas: I would say I’m a very skilled two-way player with good instincts and a very high IQ.  I take the defensive side of the ball seriously.  My mindset is first to win and have a good time playing the game.

PHR: How are you looking to improve your game this offseason?

Thomas: I’m going to be focusing on my athleticism, trying to get quicker and more explosive.  Also extend my shooting range some more.

PHR: Have you been hearing from any programs?

Thomas: High Point, Coastal Carolina, Gardner-Webb, Mars Hill, Lynchburg, and Roanoke College

PHR: What have they been saying to you?

Thomas: They all are saying they like me and they will be coming to watch me play and practice when things start back up.
