In our latest Phenom 1-on-1 interview, we head down to Alabama to check in with a young 2024 prospect in Labaron Philon from Baker high school. The 6’4 guard played on the big stage this summer with Alabama Fusion and is coming off a strong freshman season at Baker. With his play, he has racked in some big offers already with offers from Oklahoma State, Auburn, Alabama, Samford, South Alabama, and Ole Miss. We discussed the latest with the young prospect to learn more about his game and his thoughts.

Phenom: Wanted to first ask you about your excitement about this upcoming high school season for you personally and for your team?
Philon: Yes sir, I知 excited for this season and for my team also because we have a young group who wants to compete and who enjoys the game.  And they see what I have been doing with the offers and I think they want to go the route I am going right now.

Phenom: You were impressive last year in 25 games, averaging nearly 16 points per game.  But what do you have in mind in being able to step up, even more, this year?
Philon: I think I can get to like the 27 points per game and 8 assists per game this season because I know I知 going to see a lot of double teams, traps, and box-in-ones but it doesn稚 distract me. I know what needs to be done and what to work on.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game and how you like to attack?
Philon: I would describe my game as a type of slasher that can create his own space with the ability to shoot the ball from three really well and with the potential to become a dog in any college system.

Phenom: What are you trying to improve with your game?
Philon: I知 trying to improve my deep three ball, like crossing half with a screen and shooting.

Phenom: How was this summer overall for you?
Philon: Summer was great, picked up some big-time offers, and recently have been contacted by some big-time schools.

Phenom: Saw you were impressive and schools offered you early on.  What is that like earning those big offers early in your recruitment?
Philon: It is a great feeling but I look at it as I have none and continue to work.

Phenom: What is it like to get those early SEC offers, possibly playing in that tough conference?
Philon: I知 most definitely going to be ready about that time. I have a lot of time to decide where I知 going to play college ball at.

Phenom: Have you been able to look into any schools or see any yet?
Philon: No, I haven稚 seen anyone yet but I look to see what system will fit me in the best way.

Phenom: What other schools have been showing interest early on?
Philon: Texas, Cincinnati, Memphis, and several others.
