Phenom Hoops continues to bring you the latest recruiting news for players around the country. We recently spoke with play-making point guard Kareem Rozier from St. Mary's Prep, who is continuing to make his mark this summer with Meanstreets.
The 2022 guard holds one offer so far but it seems that more schools are showing strong interest his way, including a few big programs around the area. He sits down with us to talk the latest in his recruitment and which schools he has visits planned with.
Phenom: First off, how has everything been going with Meanstreets so far this summer'
Rozier: Everything with Meanstreets has been great. I love it here; we have such a great team with so many weapons' and it's just been a fun season so far.
Phenom: How would you best describe your game' You have been an impressive playmaker on the court.
Rozier: I describe my game as a true point guard and when I say that, I mean my goal is to run a team and get all of my scores involved' and knocking down the open shots when they are there. In doing that, I am a pest on defense, picking up guards the whole game and I try to mentor my game after Magic, Chris Paul, and Isaiah Thomas.
Phenom: How has your recruitment been going'
Rozier: It has been great' I've talked to many Division I colleges and I have a few visits planned for this upcoming June.
Phenom: Nice. Who has been showing strong interest your way and what visits do you have planned'
Rozier: Michigan, Toledo, Butler, Miami of Ohio have all been showing very strong interest and are the schools I have planned for as of right now.
Phenom: You hold an offer from Mississippi Valley State correct' What has their communication been like with you'
Rozier: Yes, and I still talk to Coach Hunter every couple of weeks. A wonderful coach but an even better person.
Phenom: what has the staff at Michigan been saying your way and how strong has their interest been'
Rozier: I talk to their staff every other week. Michigan loves me and loves how I play the game of basketball. I plan to go on an official visit sometime too. They are very interested in me.
Phenom: What about Butler'
Rozier: Same thing! I have a visit set for June 6th.
Phenom: That has to be exciting. I know you are looking for a big summer.
Rozier: Most definitely. Very excited and happy to even be playing this summer due to the pandemic we are living.
