Palmetto Classic
Blythewood vs AC Flora

Christmas in the South means friends, family, and hoops! The Palmetto Classic, Phenom’s gift to Columbia South Carolina, kicks off today with 6 games. In game 6 we have AC Flora vs Blythewood HS. Blythewood features talented 2019 PG Tre Jackson, a D1 prospect with multiple offers in hand and backcourt mate Jonathan Breeland, a talented unsigned senior. AC Flora on the other hand with an 8-3 record with wins over Hammond and Ben Lippen, two teams in the field here this week. After a day full of games, which side would send the fans home happy in this one?
Jackson wasn’t here for this one but Breeland was and he was hot early. He went for 10 to start the game helping his team to a 16-8 lead after the 1st quarter. They would continue to hold the lead into the break, going in at the half to the score of 33-26. Blythewood would carry a lead into the 4th quarter but AC Flora would not go away and would eventually take a 1 point lead with 95 seconds to go. In one of the better games of the day, this one goes to the wire with the two teams trading baskets and free throws to close it out. In the end, it would Blythewood that would pull this one out to the final 64-60
Players of note:

Jonathan Breeland, 6’2 2018 G – Explosive player on both ends of the floor set the tempo early and never let up. Plus motor drives production and has skill set needed to make everyone around him better. Hard to see how he is still unsigned based on his skillset. (24p/2r/6a)

Travis Thompson, 6’3 2019 W – Always seems to be in the right place at the right time in this one. Makes the most of his chances when the ball finds him and shows some bounce when going to the rim. (10p/5r)

Robert Braswell, 6’9 2018 F – Robert is an interesting prospect. He shows the ability to step out and hit the 3, the ability to be a rim protector, and ability to rebound but needs more consistency to his game. The pieces are here to be had though. (16p/6r/1a)

AC Flora:

Diamante Brown, 6’7 2018 F – Strong forward who plays the game with power. There is nothing fancy about his game, just know he is coming downhill and there is nothing you can do about it when he does. (9p/4r)

Daniel Harper-Finney, 6’5 2019 F – Lots to like here from this versatile athlete. He runs the floor very well and hustles for all he gets in the stat box. Shows up all over the stat sheet based mostly on effort alone. Has a lot to like in his game. (14p/6r/1a/1 block)
