Reports were out last week that Oregon had sent out an offer to a talented 2027 guard in Tyler Sutton, one that holds several other impressive offers. Phenom Hoops was able to reach out more to the talented guard at Roman Catholic HS, to ask more about the recent offer and more. Sutton, who is teaming up with some strong talents, has been looking to lead the way this season in scoring and facilitating, as he also discusses early on this season and game description.
High School Season:
“The season has been going well. Playing with Sammy Jackson and Shareef Jackson has helped my knowledge on the court because they hold me accountable for controlling the floor and making the right reads. I love my team; everybody is so supportive and the coaching staff.”
Game Description:
“I’m going to give it my all; I have to win the game. I try to get my teammates going early offensively and defensively because when the whole team is feeling good, you’re more likely going to pull away with the win. I know I can score whenever I want but I want to make sure everyone is happy so we are rolling together.”
Latest offer from Oregon and recruitment:
“I know a lot about them because I watch college basketball,” Sutton said about his offer from Oregon. “They were undefeated at the time, which means a lot. I know their coaching staff is high level and I do have plans on visiting.”
The Ducks staff has had strong relationships early on with Sutton and company, watching him and liking his game early on. Sutton’s ability to score and lead are two early factors that grabbed the attention of Oregon.
Oregon is just the latest program to offer Sutton, but his list is quite impressive as well with offers from Villanova, Mississippi State, McNeese State, High Point, Miami, St. John’s, West Virginia, Penn State, Iowa, Washington, and others, while schools like Syracuse have also been expressing interest according to Sutton.
But there is still plenty of time for Sutton’s recruitment to increase, as he is locked in on the season right now. “Right now, I’m staying focused on winning and getting better, whatever comes with it comes (as far as other offers).”
