The state of North Carolina is constantly full of noteworthy prospects that start to generate buzz at a young age. Consider how much status guys like MJ Rice, Jaden Bradley, Jaden Springer, Jalen Hood-Schifino, and countless others had prior to even playing a high school game. There is so much fluctuation with players at their age, but that’s arguably what makes the evaluation process so interesting. Guys who dominate in middle school might be irrelevant by their senior year while others are able to get better and properly develop over time. Although he might not currently be on the radar of most national media outlets, it’s only a matter of time before Elhadji Diallo takes the next step…

At 6-foot-7 with impressive physical tools and a blossoming skillset, there’s already a lot to like with the freshman forward prospect. Diallo possesses great length, effortless bounce, and a strong frame, which already makes him overwhelming for the majority of high school opponents (regardless of age). He’s a quality finisher, both with power and finesse, and poses a constant threat for lobs and putbacks. Diallo is an exceptional rebounder whose blend of motor, instinct, and athleticism allows him to walk into double-digit rebounds with relative ease. Furthermore, he displays no ego or baggage on the court or sideline.

Though it should be obvious at this point, Diallo is the type of prospect folks should be getting excited about. He’s already a useful piece with a low-maintenance game and the ability to produce within the flow of the action. The crazy part' Diallo is truly just beginning to scratch the surface of his long-term upside, yet clearly has all the makings of a potential star. He’s only going to get better and better over the coming years, which is exactly why Division I programs would be wise to start laying groundwork early. Diallo’s blow-up is inevitable, so it’ll be exciting to track his journey going forward.
