One of the premier guards in the state of South Carolina could be on the verge of having several offers come his way, as multiple schools have been staying in contact with the 6’3 guard from Lower Richland high school.
The junior guard had a tremendous season in which he was impacting the game in a realm of ways, averaging 13 points, 9 rebounds, and nearly 7 assists per game. Being a scorer but also a distributor, Richardson believes that his growth in his game really helped with his confidence on the floor and overall, it was a great season in what the team was able to accomplish.
“It was great for me on the court,” he told Phenom Hoops. “I was able to give my teammates a lot of confidence by giving them the ball from me being a facilitator and we finished big in the playoffs. This year, it was the Elite 8, so I feel like it was a great year on the court. (I was able to really grow with) my athleticism and my catch & shoot jump shot.”
With his impressive season, it seems that schools really took notice of what Richardson can provide on the court and they have been staying in constant contact with him throughout this time. Right now, he holds an offer from Clemson, one he received last year and they continue to stay in touch regularly.
“I’ve been having a great relationship with them (Clemson) and I’ve been talking to Coach Bender a lot over the break,” Richardson said.
However, this list of interests that have been coming his way is quite impressive.
“I’ve been hearing from South Carolina, Murray State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, Auburn, College of Charleston, Memphis, Winthrop, SC State, Florida State, Georgia, Middle Tennessee, NC State, NC A&T, and Western Carolina this offseason.”
All of which have been getting to know Richardson and discussing how he could fit in their system and their style of play. He recently took a virtual visit with Murray State and he hopes to take another one with Virginia Tech sometime soon as well.
And Richardson also mentioned that he has been hearing a lot from schools like Auburn and Virginia, as they could potentially offer down the line.
