Team 8

Coach: Chase Geter

#8: 5'11 '23 Micah Jones (Holly Springs)

Starting things off, we look at a player who simply knows how to run a team and set the tone on both ends of the floor, Micah Jones. He's a smart, quick point guard prospect with sharp vision and the ability to touch the paint at will. Jones finishes well for his size, but typically looks to create opportunities for others. He's a quality ball-handler, defender, and overall decision-maker with great instincts for forcing turnovers and making plays in transition. Next in his development process is working on his ability to move without the ball, as it would make him more productive alongside another primary ball-handler. Coach Geter on Jones: 'Micah has great court vision and can see the play before it happens. Crafty guard who creates space well. He can work on his shooting range and playing off two feet more often. Needs to increase his motor at times. Very coachable. Micah needs to add more confidence in his jumper.' Jones enjoyed a nice showing at camp, and should be poised for a notable senior season at Holly Springs.

#16: 6'2 '24 Brandon Callahan (Millbrook)

Next, we look at a player who made a lasting impact through his willingness to do the little things and fill in the gaps, Brandon Callahan. He's a long, wiry, fairly well-rounded guard prospect with great quickness and strong defensive instincts. Callahan is able to score the ball from all levels, and displays the necessary creation skills to operate as a playmaker in a pinch. He's a scrappy defender, useful transition threat, and smart offensive player who plays very well within the team structure. Next in his development process is working on his consistency off the dribble, as it would make him a more complete player. Coach Geter on Callahan: 'Brandon is a shifty guard who creates space well. Can shoot the midrange and open three-pointer. He's a solid rebounder but can play harder on either side of the ball. I would like to see him become a better shooter off the bounce.' Callahan made a nice impact at camp, and should be a vital contributor during the upcoming season at Millbrook.

#24: 6'3 '24 Amare Bethel (Charlotte Country Day)

Moving onto a player who possesses a very enticing blend of skill and athleticism, Amare Bethel. He's a long, wiry, athletic guard prospect with toughness, scrappiness, and shot-making ability. Bethel handles the ball effectively, creates for himself and others, and scores with ease from anywhere inside the arc. He's great at getting downhill and finishing or accessing his lethal midrange pull-up. Bethel is a useful on-ball defender with the blend of quickness and physicality to force opponents into miscues. Next in his development process is working on his consistency as a three-point shooter, as it would make him a more complete player. Coach Geter on Bethel: 'Amare is a tremendous athlete from the combo guard position. Has the ability to set up teammates and make the right play. Finishes well around the rim, but needs to work on extending his range. Highly competitive. Amare can become a better threat in the catch-and-shoot situations.' Bethel did a lot of things well at camp, and will be a definite leader for Charlotte Country Day over these next two seasons.

#25: 6'3 '25 Chadlyn Traylor (West Charlotte)

Continuing onto a player who continues to trend upward as one of the top guards in his class, Chadlyn Traylor. He's an extremely poised, intelligent point guard prospect with an unselfish approach and phenomenal all-around balance. Traylor is a natural leader by example who plays at his own pace, sets up others at a high volume, and scores with efficiency from multiple levels. He handles the ball with care and precision, never getting rushed or forced into errant miscues, and makes great reads as a playmaker. Traylor also contains his position well defensively. Next in his development process is working on his shooting ability off the catch, as it would make him a more reliable spot-up threat. Coach Geter on Traylor: 'Chad has a high basketball IQ. He's a great pace-setter and makes the right play. Difficult for opponents to keep out of the lane. Work on extending his range and becoming a better catch-and-shoot option. He can shoot but can become a better shooter off-ball.' Traylor proved to be a difference-maker at camp, and should remain a strong leader for West Charlotte over the foreseeable future.

#40: 6'5 '24 Hampton Evans (Greenfield)

Next, we look at a player who seems to make a lasting impression with his consistent production in every possible setting, Hampton Evans. He's a smart, skilled, well-rounded wing prospect with size and the ability to make an impact with or without the ball in his hands. Evans scores the ball effectively from all levels, positions himself properly on defense, and simply knows how to fill in the gaps alongside any collection of teammates. He also plays hard, which is evidenced by his general hustle and willingness to do the dirty work on either side of the ball. Next in his development process is working to get quicker, as it would make him a more explosive player. Coach Geter on Evans: 'Hampton is a hard-nosed player. Solid rebounder on both ends, but could become better. Makes the extra pass and knocks down open three-pointers with consistency.' Evans did a lot of things well during his time at camp, and should remain a primary leader for Greenfield over these next two seasons.

He's able to pile on points from all levels, and has the necessary creation skills to generate clean shots for himself on regular basis. Next in his development process is working on becoming a better playmaker, as it would make him a more complete player. Coach Geter on Thomas: 'Braylhan is a great athlete who plays tremendous defense. He's a bonafide bucket-getter. Can work on making the extra pass at times and staying locked in when the game isn't going his way. Rebounds the ball well on both ends. Has unlimited range.' Thomas enjoyed a strong showing at camp, securing the Mr. Offense award, and should be a difference-maker for Moravian Prep going forward.'

#57: 6'7 '24 Ari Fulton (Westover)

Continuing onto a player who easily stood out as one of most explosive campers in the gym, Ari Fulton. He's a long, athletic, physically imposing wing/forward prospect with a blossoming skillset and the ability to outwork opponents on both ends of the floor. Fulton is able to meet opponents at the rim, where he's able to block shots and effortlessly power through contact as a finisher. He has an incredible array of physical tools and moves exceptionally well for his size. Fulton is a capable ball-handler and passer, but knows how to make a steady impact without the ball in his hands. He's a strong rebounder and versatile defender with the necessary instincts to force turnovers at a high volume. Fulton also showcased a high motor, unselfish mentality, and great feel on both ends of the floor. Next in his development process is working on his ability to move without the ball, as it would make him a more complete player. Coach Geter on Fulton: 'Ari is a long, rangy athlete who smothers people on defense. He finishes well around the basket.' Fulton stood out as an asset during camp, and will be a name for college coaches to remember as he enters his upcoming junior season at Westover.

Next, we look at a player who seem to get better and better with each new viewing, Mason Hagedorn. He's a long, wiry, skilled forward/post prospect with solid athleticism and phenomenal floor-spacing ability. Hagedorn is a quality rim-runner who can operate in the two-man game, where he's able to roll, pop, or attack bigger opponents off the dribble. He finished with touch around the basket and highlighted power above the rim. Hagedorn moves well for his size, displays nice timing as a rim-protector, and shoots the ball at a high level from beyond the arc. Next in his development process is working to get quicker, as it would make him a better defender along the perimeter. Coach Geter on Hagedorn: 'Mason can shoot the lights out. Plays inside and out, and can put it on the floor when they run him off the line. He rebounds well. Needs to play closer to the basket when his jumper isn't falling. I would also like to see Mason continue to work on his conditioning.' Hagedorn made a quality impact at camp, and should be a valuable contributor for Combine Academy going forward.

#73: 6'9 '23 Jaydin Spillman-Martin (Calvary Day)

Finishing up, we look at a player who possesses an impressive amount of skill for his size, Jaydin Spillman-Martin. He's a long, wiry forward/post prospect with excellent perimeter shooting and a useful array of moves in the post. Spillman-Martin displays touch, rebounding instincts, and shot-blocking ability around the basket, but can also effortlessly step out and space the floor from midrange or beyond the arc. He finishes above the rim, runs the floor well in transition, and naturally causes matchup problems for opposing big men with his overall skill level. Next in his development process is working to get stronger, as it'll only help prepare him for the increased physicality of the college game. Coach Geter on Spillman-Martin: 'Jaydin is a tenacious rebounder, rim-runner, and shot-blocker. He intimidates guards from driving the lane. Can get lost in the fast pace of the game. Good teammate who always wants his peers to do well. I would like to see him work on his post moves.' Spillman-Martin proved to be an asset at camp, and should be a definite leader for Calvary Day during his upcoming senior season.
