Continuing to shine more on teams that were at our Phenom Prep Showcase this past weekend, many people have heard of the NC GBB program but may know more about the national team than the varsity team. Though the national team has quite a bit of talent to look at, NC GBB Varsity this weekend also left their mark on the event, finishing 2-0 and bringing some new names to our platform.

Overall, this is a team that played extremely hard, competed, shared the ball exceptionally well, and produced on both ends of the court.  And they have some young talent that should be names to start looking at more and remembering in the coming years, monitoring their progression.

We start with two freshmen that really grabbed our attention at the event.  2026 Carter Bullock and 2026 Treyton Jones should be two names on your watch list now for the Class of 2026 in North Carolina.  Bullock is a 6’4 prospect that played consistently throughout and really stepped up as a leader at such a young age; he was able to use his size to his advantage, make plays off the bounce, and do an exceptional job in getting to his spots to stretch the defense and knock down shots from behind the arc.  Jones, another 6’4 prospect, showed flashes of his ability to get to his spots well and make plays from behind the arc as well as his mid-range shot with touch.

Then you have players like 2025 6’7 Evan Dean, who can be a game-changer for this team with how he stretches the floor with his outside shooting, as he hit multiple threes throughout the event. And 2026 6’2 Malcolm McNeil elevated his play in Game 2, scoring 13 points, creating well and getting to the line, and finding ways to get inside the defense.

The freshmen really grabbed our attention in a big way, but there are a few other names to start monitoring as well for this young ball club, as NC GBB Varsity had a terrific weekend at the Phenom Prep Showcase.
