Cape Hatteras
Record: 14-7 overall/ 10-2 conference
After starting the season 2-5 overall, Cape Hatteras started to put the wins together. Finishing 10-2 in conference play and 8-3 at home, they finished on top of the conference. Seniors led the way, as Jose Cirisa finished his season averaging 15.5 points per game, while Dylan Gray scored the ball well and attacked the boards.
Columbia
Record: 15-11 overall/ 8-3 conference
Head coach Virian Holloway started the season off strong but a couple of tough losses towards the end of the season were hard to overcome. Still finishing with a winning record and playing for an Atlantic 5 championship, it was still a strong season for the Wildcats. It was a balanced attack offensively for this team with a great mixture of seniors and juniors, while also stepping up on the defensive end.
Mattamuskeet
Record: 6-15 overall/ 5-6 conference
The Lakers couldn’t find much success to start the season but found their groove in conference play, as five of their six total wins came in conference play. Mattamuskeet finished the season well at home, going 5-5 in front of their home fans. Team full of seniors, Ivy Burrus and Samuel Stewart led the charge, finishing averaging double-figures on the season.
Bear Grass Charter
Record: 4-16 overall/ 4-7 conference
It was an uphill battle all season long but one would have to say that one of the brightest spots of the season was when they won back to back games vs. Columbia and Ocracoke in late January. Bryce Carlisle led the way averaging 9.5 points per game.
Ocracoke
Record: 0-13 overall/ 0-9 conference
Even though Ocracoke couldn’t find themselves in the win column this year, there were several in which they were incredibly competitive but just came out on the short side of things.
