Thoughts on Georgiadis

Dimitri Georgiadis is one of Richmond’s most intriguing players in the 2018 class. A few months back, our Phenom Hoops team traveled to Petersburg, VA for the VISAA State Tournament at Virginia State University. Going into the event, we knew Georgiadis could compete, but we wanted to pay closer attention to his overall game before drawing any immediate assumptions. After an impressive semi-final performance against Paul VI, we immediately fell in love with the kid. Georgiadis is an absolute beast in all aspects of his young basketball career. He’s the type of kid that coaches love to have on their roster. Georgiadis is brilliant player with an extremely high basketball IQ and loads of potential. Offensively, this stud is a double-double machine. Board after board, put-back after put-back, this 6’8” rising sophomore continuously gets the job done. Two things that separate this baller from the rest of the pack are his footwork and fundamentals deep in the trenches at such a young age. Georgiadis displayed lethal post moves throughout the course of the tournament and showed off his beautiful mid-range jump shot on countless occasions. Defensively, my man is a force. He plays with a purpose. Georgiadis attacks the glass strong, plays tight on-ball defense, and works hard to give himself a slight advantage against opposing bigs in the post. After a stellar season at Trinity Episcopal School this past year, Georgiadis was invited to our first annual Virginia Top 80 Camp in Norfolk, VA. When this young gun first stepped foot in the building, it was easy to see he was on a mission to gain maximum exposure. Right from the start, he showed us why he deserved his invite. During the early morning station drills, Georgiadis was electric. His handles were above average, his bounce was superb, and his attitude was fantastic. When the scrimmages began, we knew we were in for a treat. Georgiadis wasn’t the flashiest player and didn’t do anything too spectacular, but he worked hard, provided a spark, and proved to us his name could blow up with the proper dedication. If he can improve a few additional things on the defensive end and increase his stamina just a bit, the 804 can expect Georgiadis to do BIG things here in the coming years. Did we forget to mention he made the Romanian 16U National Team this year' The future is definitely bright for this TES Titan.
