High School Coach Evaluation: Jaylin became one of our 'go to' guys as he began to really assert himself more as the season progressed. He can really shoot the basketball and moves well without the ball, has a quick release and a high basketball IQ. He is much improved coming off screens and hitting the mid range jumper. He finishes very well and plays above the rim. He can be a high level defender and has demonstrated the ability to defend other high major prospects. As his body matures and he gets stronger he certainly has all the tools to play high major college basketball. –Coach Danny Manuel, Miller School Basketball

AAU Team: Boo Williams – Mike Williams

From the Phenom Hoop Report VA Top 80 Camp: #34 6'3' 2017 Jaylin Reed – Miller School (Charlottesville)
Reed walked through the door with a great frame. He is long and has a smooth handle with the ball. Reed showed the ability to score in bunches with the ball in his hands. He was able to utilize his long arms on defense, to kick start some of his offense. As Reed continues to develop we would like to see him add strength and continue to straighten out some mechanics in his jump shot.

Coach Frank says: Jaylin is one of the most talented and skilled players I have seen in the 2018 class. An athletic and bouncy 6'3 guard with long arms and a great motor Jaylin is a game changer on both ends. He can score at all levels with very good consistency and scores from beyond the arc at a high percentage. Jaylin can score off the bounce attacking the basket, can finish above the rim or absorb contact and score in traffic. Jaylin, who got his first dunk on an alle-oop while in the 8th grade and has great bounce. He has a smooth, tight handle and can create his own shot and execute a very disciplined Miller School offense. A tough matchup because of his offensive versatility Jaylin does a great job creating space either with a series of attack dribbles to back off a defender before quickly elevating into a consistent mid range jumper or using the step back dribble move. He makes great cuts and uses screens well, gets great elevation off a screen on a catch and shoot. Jaylin was a 51% field goal shooter (45% from three) during his sophomore season at Miller School. A scrappy defender and energy giver, Jaylin can defend either guard position. Uses his long wingspan and solid defensive footwork to pressure the basketball, tips passes and is a very good rebounder. Already attracting D1 attention, look for Jaylin to have a huge summer with Boo Williams playing for former Old Dominion University standout guard Mike Williams and a successful high school career at state power Miller School.
