AAU Coach Evaluation:''Kaleb is a player every coach loves to coach.' He loves to compete and get better each day.' I have known Kaleb since he was 9 years old and have had the pleasure of coaching him the past 4 years.' Kaleb is a very athletic and skilled combo guard. Kaleb has the ability to get to the basket at will but is capable of scoring at all three levels.' This season he has really become a real 3pt threat.' He has the ability to score in many ways and in bunches.' As his confidence increases, so does his offensive production.' Kaleb rebounds the ball well at the guard spot and takes pride on the defensive end of the floor.' He is a good on ball defender but excels at playing the passing lanes.' Not many know his name now, but you will by his senior year.' Kaleb will have a great high school career and I definitely see him as being one of the top college recruits in the area.''– Coach James Pope, Head Coach BWSL Pope/Head Coach and Athletic Director, Surry County High School

High School Coach Evaluation: 'I have known Kaleb for the past eight years and been fortunate to be his basketball coach at Tallwood High School for the past two years.'' In all of my dealings with Kaleb he has shown to be a young man of character, intelligence, and talent. He is now a sophomore at Tallwood and is displaying the leadership and work ethic that every coach hopes for from his top players.' Kaleb is an excellent student, which makes him very coachable, a quick learner, and a valuable leader on the floor.' Last season, as a ninth grader we were privileged to utilize Kaleb at four different positions.' The opportunities that Kaleb enjoyed last season were important to building his confidence, court awareness, and his determination to win. Kaleb's commitment to basketball is year-round.' He is one of the hardest working student athletes that I have worked with in my 35 years of coaching.' He never takes a day off and leads by example.' Kaleb is relentless as a player.' He wants to be on the court at all times and continues to make steady progress toward becoming an excellent collegiate quality basketball player.' He takes advantage of individual coaching from many elite basketball experts in the areas of ball-handling, shooting, and other basketball related skills.' In addition, he spends numerous hours in the gym working on his game and developing his strength and conditioning.' Kaleb has many impressive personality traits.' He has proven his capabilities on the basketball court in multiple ways.' He is respected by his teammates because he works hard and knows his role.' He is polite and humble. He always is a pleasure to coach because of his thoughtful personality and desire to win.' One of the most important qualities that I admire in Kaleb is his attitude.' He has an attitude that reflects the people around him in a positive way and seems to get the most out of his teammates because of his ability to communicate in a positive manner. As you can tell Kaleb is truly an outstanding young man who exhibits great leadership qualities.' I know his strong personal determination, competitiveness, and commitment will enable him to achieve his goal of playing basketball at the collegiate level. ''Coach Tom Gunsalus, Head Coach Tallwood High School

Coach Frank says: Kaleb brings a lot to the court both with his talent and his competitiveness.' He sets the tone as he defends with great energy and locks down whoever he is tasked with covering.' Offensively he can score and is a very good passer but he plays with such energy and passion it carries over to his teammates who seem to feed of his emotion. Kaleb is unselfish and gets as much satisfaction out of assisting a teammate as scoring himself.' He is a strong and athletic guard who can slice his way to the rim, absorb contact and score or hit the jumper at a very good percentage from all levels.' He has a quick first step and reads the defense making good decisions, is effective in traffic as a pass first guard. 'He rebounds his position and is a harassing on ball defender who can play physical or using his quick feet and high motor sit in and lock down the offensive player.' Kaleb's motor and his energy run in high gear consistently when he's on the floor.' Only a rising sophomore Kaleb has already made his presence known as he had a number of double digit scoring games as a freshman including a season high 17 points in a February 2017 game against rival Kellam High School when he didn't miss a shot connecting on all five of his field goal attempts including 4 of 4 from beyond the arc while also going 3-3 at the free throw line!' He shot 60% from the floor during his freshman season!' No doubt Kaleb Peterson is a player college coaches should add to their watch list!
