There is an abundance of talent in the state of North Carolina, especially in the class of 2024, is something special. One of those players that we have been quite high on and it seems that the national outlets are catching on is 2024 Isaiah Evans from North Meck. The long, lengthy prospect has really stepped up to show more of his game in his sophomore season, helping lead the Vikings to a strong season so far.

And it hasn’t gone unnoticed from college coaches as well, as his recruitment has picked up as well. We discuss with him all the latest, his season, his summer, and his recruitment.

Phenom: First off, congrats on a terrific season. Wanted to ask you in your eyes how this season has gone for you and your team'
Evans: It has gone really well.  That conference championship was a good confidence boost but we know what the real goal is.  We are a championship cultured team and we intend to keep it that way.  This season has given me the chance to really showcase my talent, and I don't take that for granted.

Phenom: What is your excitement about the playoffs and hoping to make a run'
Evans: I'm really excited because I know that I'll be a part of a state championship team.

Phenom: How do you think you have improved as a player during your sophomore season'
Evans: Learning how to be more mature and gaining pace.' Playing with highly-skilled senior guards has shown me how important pace and patience are.' We've come back in a couple of games just because of pace.' We've also lost a couple of games because we didn't have enough pace.' So I think I've grown more mentally than anything else.

Phenom: You have been opening a ton of eyes but what were you hoping to show with your game more this season at North Meck and what you can provide'
Evans: I think my passing ability is a little overlooked, the court has just opened up so much more.' I want to show people how versatile I am, that I can do more than shoot threes and dunk.' My post-up, my face-up, my ability to thread the needle, and the energy I bring to a team.

Phenom: What is your excitement with this summer and playing with TSF'
Evans: I'm definitely looking forward to locking in with the guys and building a new relationship.

Phenom: What has it been like for you to get that national recognition by many outlets'
Evans: It’s confirmation that the work I put in is showing.' Also that when I keep doing what I'm doing when the lights shut off, there is no telling how good I can be.

Phenom: Recruitment has gone. Wanted to get your thoughts on the whole process so far'
Evans: It has been great, getting all the looks I'm getting but the main focus is making sure I never get comfortable.

Phenom: Rolling back to your first offer, what was it like to get that offer from Hampton and that first D1 offer'
Evans: I was extra excited. I just kept saying thank you.

Phenom: What are your early thoughts or impressions on your offers from Texas A&M and Tennessee, two big offers'
Evans: I'm open to anybody.

Phenom: What about your latest offer from Illinois' Anything you know about them early on'
Evans: Not really.  I know that their basketball culture was really good though.

Phenom: What have those schools said they like about your game early on'
Evans: My ability to stretch the floor and my length.

Phenom: Do you have any visits or interests coming your way'
Evans: Just took an unofficial visit for Coastal Carolina and I don't doubt that I'll get more if I keep my production up to par.
