The Winter Nationals with Phenom Hoops is one of the best events to start the season because we not only kick off the travel ball season in a big way, but we also get a chance to see the future around the country. So many players came through the doors this past weekend and left a lasting impression, as we dive in and break down many of their games.
We were able to get our first look at 6’3 2029 Jovani Spencer at the Underrated Showcase and then he backed that performance up with another strong showing at Winter Nationals. His sheer size and physicality at his age quickly stand out to you when he steps on the court, but he is one that also backs that up with his production. Spencer was a force on the court, being physical, strong, and competing on both ends. He was able to make several plays in attacking the rim, finishing strong and through contact, and also attacking the glass to create opportunities there as well. He runs the floor well, is comfortable from outside, showed that he can help protect the rim defensively, and really be a consistent presence in the paint overall. As we said before, he utilizes his size and length well to his advantage and we are eager to see how he takes the next step in his game.
