Before you know it, the travel ball season will be ending soon and the high school season will be tipping off once again. But what travel ball has been teaching us a bit are players that a ready to take the next step coming into the season. A program that we were eager to see this weekend at the Phenom Summer Showcase was Rising Pro Training, an underrated yet rising organization here in North Carolina.
On the 17u team, we had a familiar face in 2026 6’4 Cam Fowler leading the way for Rising Pro Training, and it got us thinking that this is a young man who could be gearing up for a big high school season. With the losses of Drake Powell and other key seniors, Fowler will be the leading returner from last year and will be counted on to elevate his game even more. He showed that he is capable and ready to do just that this past weekend at the Summer Showcase in Bermuda Run (NC).
Fowler, who is a dual-sport athlete at Northwood High School, is coming off a season in which he nearly averaged 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. And those numbers should only increase, as the Chargers will need him to step up even more as the go-to player. With the Rising Pro Training 17u team, Fowler has shown that he can assert himself as a go-to guy with his size, athleticism, ability to drive and finish, knock down shots inside and out, and play multiple positions due to his 6’4 frame. He is an athletic finisher who excels at getting into the paint and making plays but also competes at multiple positions defensively.
He will be counted on big time next year with the Chargers, and he is giving us a glimpse of his capabilities this summer with Rising Pro Training.
