In our first Lady Phenom NC Top 80, we were able to get another view of 2024 6’1 Icyss Storm from Grace Christian and she has only continued to develop and elevate her game. Coming off a tremendous high school season, she really showcased her overall impact on the court at the Top 80, where we had this to say:

“She's a strong, athletic, rugged forward/post prospect with a nonstop motor and the ability to consistently overwhelm opponents on both ends of the floor. Storm is a great defender with the length, quickness, and sheer instincts to contain her assignment and force turnovers at a frequent rate. She can also actively toggle between multiple positions. Storm is a quality penetrator with the ability to finish through contact or pull-up from midrange. She's an active rebounder that pushes the ball ahead and runs the floor in transition.”

Now, we caught up with Storm to learn about the latest, as she is adding more to her game, her potential plan of reclassing, and also earning her first offer. See what she had to say with Lady Phenom.

Lady Phenom: How has everything been going this summer for you'
Storm: This summer has been really good. I received my first offer from South Carolina State as well! I also am planning on reclassing as well.

Lady Phenom: What has been your focus for you and your team'
Storm: Playing to our best ability while playing as a team would have to be the main thing we are focusing on. As long as we play our game, I believe we can compete anywhere.

Lady Phenom: What areas are you hoping to show more this travel ball season'
Storm: I've been working hard on growing my ability to play more out on the wing, so that is what I'm hoping to show more of.

Lady Phenom: What areas are you still looking to improve'
Storm: Along with my perimeter game, I'd still like to improve my timing for steals and blocks.

Lady Phenom: You recently received an offer from SC State' What was that moment like and your thoughts on the program'
Storm: I was really appreciative of them giving me the opportunity to be part of their program. I really love what their program stands for and how they are really about the kids.  As an HBCU, they are also really big on culture.

Lady Phenom: What did the staff have to say they liked about your game'
Storm: The staff let me know that they loved my passion for the game. I am all about the success of my team/teammates, so I get really hyped for everyone.

Lady Phenom: What else has been going on in your recruitment' What other offers do you hold and what other schools have expressed interest in your way'
Storm: At the time, I don't have any other offers but I have been talking to other schools such as UNC-Asheville and Gardner-Webb.
