Everyone, and I mean everyone, has heard the saying 'You Can't Teach Size' in the basketball world and that is certainly true. This is why when you find a 6'11 prospect like Maya Bote, you quickly start putting him on your watch list. And that you should, especially with what we saw in our first viewing this past weekend at the Phenom G3 Showcase.
Bote is still a raw prospect overall but you don't see to many prospects at his age that have his size, his frame, his strength, and his potential. He can really be effective on the defensive end, especially with his length. The timing he has on blocking shots and making himself even bigger is impressive, while also adding that he moves pretty well and is active. Offensively, he is still developing his overall feel but you see the glimpses he has with touch, his activity, and actually runs the floor pretty well for a 6'11 player.
And you can only think the more training and work he gets with Combine and this summer, along with adjusting his game, Bote will certainly be a player that will be garnering even more attention from college coaches quickly.
As we said above, this is just our first viewing of the young big but there are a lot of factors in his game that you can easily see translate to the next level and as he continues to develop, he will only become a bigger target by many.
