Team 5
Coach: Chris Ewell
#11: 5’4 ’27 Zaniya Reddick (Terry Sanford)
Starting off, we look at a player who highlighted a polished skillset and variety of positive intangibles, Zaniya Reddick. She’s a smart, rugged, high-motor guard prospect with an unselfish mentality and the ability to score from all levels. Reddick sets the tone in several ways. She’s a tough defender with the quickness, positioning, and instincts to suffocate opponents and force turnovers at a strong rate. She’s also a quality threat in transition, both as a scorer and playmaker. Next in her development process is working to get stronger, as it would make her a more physically imposing defender. Coach Ewell on Reddick: “Zaniya was a floor general with the ability to score from all levels. She plays hard, gets others open shots, and communicates on both sides of the floor. She’s a good on-ball defender who creates opportunities in transition with her defensive pressure.” Reddick enjoyed a quality showing at camp and should be a difference-maker for Terry Sanford over the coming years.
#13: 5’5 ’26 Janiya Mosely (Clinton)
Next, we look at a player who found success through her ability to fill in the gaps, Janiya Mosely. She’s a steady, fairly well-rounded guard prospect with nice quickness and an active motor. Mosely displayed the ability to knock down open jumpers or finish around the basket, but didn’t necessarily require touches to make an impact. She also rebounds quite well for her size/position. Next in her development process is working on the use of her off-hand, as it would make her a more complete player. Coach Ewell on Mosely: “Janiya is a strong guard who does the little things on the court. Her energy and ability to guard was very consistent. She helped on the glass and took good shots—even if they didn’t go in. She didn’t shy away from contact at the rim.” Mosely battled well during her time at camp and should have a productive junior season for Clinton.
#20: 5’6 ’28 Denae Thompson (DH Conley)
Moving forward, we look at a player who showcased a lot of appeal, especially for her age, Denae Thompson. She’s a young, skilled guard prospect with a high IQ, strong motor, and unselfish approach to the game. Thompson consistently penetrated, knocked down jumpers, and set up others. She’s able to create with the ball in her hands or apply pressure as a cutter or spot-up threat. Thompson is also a solid defender. Next in her development process is working on getting quicker, as it would make her a better defender at the point of attack. Coach Ewell on Thompson: “Denae was a steady on-ball guard with a flare to her game. She can get downhill, create for others, and use her handle to get to her spots or create space. She has the ability to get around defenders going to the basket. Tends to make the right play when shots at the basket aren’t available.” Thompson did a lot of things well at camp and will be a prospect to monitor for DH Conley over the coming years.
#26: 5’6 ’27 Maddy Beatson (First Flight)
Continuing forward, we look at a player who produced effectively within the flow of the action, Maddy Beatson. She’s a steady, fairly well-rounded guard prospect who plays hard and possesses nice feel on both ends of the floor. Beatson knocks down open shots and is capable of initiating the offense as needed. She moves well without the ball to find open seams within the defense and capitalize on spot-up opportunities. Next in her development process is working on the use of her off-hand, as it would make her a better finisher around the basket. Coach Ewell on Beatson: “Maddy plays well on or off the ball. She has solid vision, good handle, and the ability to score on her own. She has good range on her shot and plays at a good pace.” Beatson enjoyed a solid showing at camp and should be a focal point for First Flight over the foreseeable future.
#29: 5’7 ’25 Aiyana Harrison (Hunt)
Next, we look at a player who highlighted the ability to do a little bit of everything on the court, Aiyana Harrison. She’s a steady, fairly well-rounded guard prospect with an active motor and solid feel for the game. Harrison can finish around the basket, hit open jumpers, and contain her assignment defensively. She moves well without the ball and pursues rebounds at a consistent rate. Harrison also shows a willingness to make hustle plays as needed. Next in her development process is working on the use of her off-hand, as it would make her a more complete player. Coach Ewell on Harrison: “Aiyana provides quickness, athleticism, and the ability to get paint touches. She can put her head down and attack the basket with relative ease. She has good lateral movement, which helps her ability to guard up and down the floor.” Harrison made a quality impact during camp and should be poised for a productive senior season at Hunt.
#48: 5’8 ’27 Jewel Gully (Seventy-First)
Moving forward, we look at a player who simply knows how to play to her strengths, Jewel Gully. She’s a scrappy, high-motor forward prospect with a lethal penetration sense and unselfish approach to the game. Gully touches the paint at a high volume and finishes well around the basket. She’s comfortable finding opportunities as a cutter and moving without the ball. Gully battles hard defensively and rebounds exceptionally well on both ends of the floor. Next in her development process is working on the use of her off-hand, as it would make her a more reliable creator. Coach Ewell on Gully: “Jewel was one of the hardest-playing girls on both ends of the floor. She shows continuous effort around the rim, plays with toughness, and makes unselfish plays to help the team win. One of the top rebounders at camp. Jewel was a joy to coach.” Gully made her presence felt throughout camp and should be an impactful piece for Seventy-First over the foreseeable future.
#55: 5’9 ’25 Isabell Berhe (Victory Christian)
Continuing forward, we look at a player who displayed a willingness to do whatever was necessary to provide her team with an edge, Isabell Berhe. She’s a strong, scrappy wing prospect who understands how to operate within the flow of the action. Berhe is a capable cutter who finds open seams and finishes around the basket. She displays solid vision and rebounds the ball effectively on both ends of the floor. Berhe does a great job of capitalizing on her opportunities. Next in her development process is working on the use of her off-hand, as it would make her a more complete player. Coach Ewell on Berhe: “Isabell brought some value in different ways. She does a little bit of everything well. Steady utility/role player who has some skill to get her own shot if needed.” Berhe enjoyed a solid showing at camp and should be a useful piece for Victory Christian during her upcoming senior season.
#56: 5’9 ’26 Jane Kern (Broughton)
Next, we look at a player who made a lasting impression with her knockdown shooting ability, Jane Kern. She’s a smart, skilled guard prospect with a high motor and low-maintenance approach to the game. Kern is a capable penetrator and midrange shooter, but is arguably at her best when applying pressure from beyond the arc. She’s an elite spot-up threat who moves well without the ball, finds open seams, and consistently converts off the catch. She’s a willing passer and solid defender. Next in her development process is working on the use of her off-hand, as it would make her a better finisher around the basket. Coach Ewell on Kern: “Jane was one of, if not the best shooter at camp. Each game, she was coachable and played to her strengths. Whether spotting up or coming off of screens, she was lights-out from deep.” Kern made a strong impact during camp and should be a focal point for Broughton over these next two seasons.
#66: 5’11’ 28 Kahrin Highsmith (JH Rose)
Moving forward, we look at a player who has an enticing crossroads between productivity and long-term upside, Kahrin Highsmith. She’s a skilled post prospect with a strong combination of IQ, unselfishness, and instincts on both ends of the floor. Highsmith is a solid finisher around the basket, yet looks to set up others whenever possible. She clears out space well to secure rebounds on both ends of the floor. Next in her development process is working to get quicker, as it would make her a better defender against smaller guards. Coach Ewell on Highsmith: “Kahrin gave us a good presence in the low post with her ability to carve out space, rebound, and finish with touch around the basket. She makes good decisions with the ball in the high post with her passing or midrange jumper. She is helpful as a help-side defender and finisher when rolling to the rim.” Highsmith proved to be a difference-maker at camp and will be a prospect to monitor as she begins her high school journey for JH Rose.
#74: 6’0 ’27 Miller Kuss (Cardinal Gibbons)
Finishing up, we look at a player who should only continue to trend upward, Miller Kuss. She’s a smart, skilled wing/forward prospect with great size and shooting ability. Kuss is a great spot-up threat who knows how to properly move without the ball to find open opportunities. She plays hard, especially on the glass, and rebounds at a consistent rate on both ends of the floor. Kuss also battles well defensively. Next in her development process is working on the use of her off-hand, as it would make her a better finisher around the basket. Coach Ewell on Kuss: “Miller was steady in each game, providing consistent rebounding and weak-side help. She plays hard, gives good effort on both ends, and is not afraid to contribute on offense around the rim or as a spot-up threat from beyond the arc.” Kuss enjoyed a quality showing at camp and has the tools to progress for Cardinal Gibbons over the coming years.
