Northwest Guilford is coming off a 13-13 season last year and was full of young talent that should be returning once again to see if they can build off the success they had last year. One of those players is 2025 5’7 combo guard Kara Rumple, who has had a strong summer and is looking to step up, even more, this year for the Vikings. Phenom Hoops had a chance to get to know more about her game, her focus this season, and much more, as she is in the spotlight this week.

Phenom: What is your excitement about this upcoming season with Northwest'
Rumple: Last year, we were a really young team, so to have mostly everybody back a year older is very exciting. I'm looking forward to my sophomore season and competing in our conference this year as well.

Phenom: How did summer ball go for you' How do you think your game has improved and what areas are you still focusing on before the season'
Rumple: Summer ball went well.  I spent a lot of time focusing on my ball handling and strength.  I am continuing to work on my speed and agility to help me defend at the next level.

Phenom: What are you hoping to provide your team, even more, this year at NW' What are you wanting your role to be'
Rumple: Now that I am a sophomore, I would like to bring more leadership to my team and I plan to have a more active role on both ends of the court, scoring, distributing the ball to my teammates, and defensively.

Phenom: What have you seen early on with your team early on this high school season' How will last year help you and your team overall'
Rumple: Having five freshmen last year, we have built a lot more chemistry as a team and gained more experience playing with each other.' Being a young team, we dealt with adversity that will help us this upcoming season.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game'
Rumple: I'm a combo guard that scores from all three levels and helps make my teammates better by reading the floor well.

Phenom: I know it is early but has anything been going on as far as your recruitment'
Rumple: I have received interest from a number of schools after either attending their elite camps or them watching me at showcase events; a few mid-major D1 schools and D2 schools.
