Reid may be a name you have heard of in North Carolina but also one that might have gone under the radar, which is why Phenom Hoops is spotlighting the senior as she looks to lead the charge once again in Jacksonville.  Reid put up big-time numbers last year, leading her team in many categories and helping her team go 23-3 while also earning Player of the Year honors as well.  Now, she is back and looking to do the same in her final season, as we spoke to her about her thoughts on her senior season, more about her game, and what has been going on with her recruitment.

Phenom: You had a tremendous season last year for SW Onslow, putting up impressive numbers.  What was it like to perform at such a high level and lead your team?
Reid: Coming into last season, I really put in a lot of work. So, it was gratifying to see the work pay off.  I had my ups and downs throughout the season, but my teammates and coaches helped me stay focused on our goals.

Phenom: How do you think you have improved as a player heading into the season?
Reid: I’ve become more of a floor general and a leader. I’m able to read the defense and make better decisions with the basketball.  I’ve trained my left hand all summer. I’m a lot more comfortable driving and finishing through contact.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game on the court? How do you like to operate?
Reid: My game is very versatile. I can do a little bit of everything. My height allows me to defend the post, rebound, and block shots. Offensively, I love to play in the open court and get downhill.  My speed and length give me an advantage and creates a mismatch in 1-on-1 situations.  I have the ability to score when needed but I’m most comfortable playing the role of facilitator. I love getting my teammates involved.  At the end of the day, I’m willing to do whatever my team needs, to put us in a position to win.

Phenom: What is your mindset heading into the upcoming season?
Reid: My mindset going into my senior year is to be a dawg.  I’m going to leave everything I have on the floor. My goals are for my team to make it to states.  As for me, I just want to have my best all-around season so far.  I want to play Division 1 basketball and eventually play at the professional level.

Phenom: How has your recruitment been going? What has been the latest?
Reid: My recruiting has picked up as of late.  I’m from a small area and we really don’t get much exposure.  This summer was my first opportunity to play during the LIVE period and I earned my first offer from ECSU.  But lately, I’ve heard from programs like Winthrop, NCCU, and a few other schools.
