Lady Phenom Hoops is gearing up for a tremendous season and we are looking at teams around the state that have talent to be on the lookout for. Forsyth County Day School is an intriguing team after a strong season last year and with the potential talent returning. They finished the season 15-12 overall, and the strong duo of Lila Kelly and Gigi Lyons could have this program on bigger things this upcoming season and further down the road.
2027 Lila Kelly is a very unique and talented prospect, and she is one that we have talked about on several occasions before. She has the size and skill set that allows her to flourish in a variety of ways and roles, and she is coming off a season in which she averaged nearly 18 points per game, can score in a variety of ways and levels, and plays the game with a high IQ. She was at the Lady NC Top 80, where we had this to say:
“She’s a smart, skilled, high-motor forward/post prospect who already possesses an excellent nose for the ball. Kelly is a quality finisher and perimeter shooter with an understanding of how to take what the defense is giving her. She rebounds at a high volume, passes well for her size, and runs the floor well in transition. Kelly defends the post effectively and blocks shots regularly.”
Her teammate, 2027 Gigi Lyons, was also part of a dynamic freshman duo last year for FCDS and with these two leading the charge, this could be a very interesting program to watch. Lyons is coming off a season in which she averaged 16.7 points per game, showing tremendous skill, ability to create and score, her competitive nature, and ability to make an impact in a variety of ways on both sides.
There is no doubt about it, these two prospects were able to flourish early on last year as freshmen and they should only continue that trend heading into their sophomore seasons. But what will be interesting to see is not only their development but who else may be able to step up. If so, FCDS as a chance to really build on something special.
