Phenom Hoops was on deck this past weekend for a great event. The Well Invitational presented by Underrated Athletes brought teams from around the area to compete. Phenom had a chance to check out the talent and there were plenty of takeaways from the event. Lab U Regional was an interesting team to watch, as they took down Elevation Prep. It was the guard play that was able to excel
2026 Jalyn Connor
Connor has been one we have watched over the years, and he continues to impress with his ability to fill it up and be a playmaker on the court. Since watching him a few years ago until today at Lab U, Connor continues to be a huge weapon with his ability to knock down perimeter shots. He opens the floor offensively and gets to his spots well to be a consistent three-point threat. However, he is also an effective offensive weapon with his speed and ability to create space, as he is a strong creator and displays crafty handles. It seems that no matter the game or event, Connor is dangerous to fill it up.
2025 James Woods
It had been a while since seeing Woods in action, so we were eager to see what he could show at The Well Invitational. Woods is a strong, sturdy, and physical guard who continues to flourish with his ability to put pressure on the defense, force the action, and get inside. Whether it was scoring and attacking, or finding ways to get to the line, Woods can be a tough matchup for defenders with his frame. Credit though to Woods, as he doesn’t rely on his strength, showing his ability to hurt you from the perimeter.
