Kevin’s Fab 5 Phenom’s High School Jamboree Session 2

6’3 2019 Quest Aldridge (Mt Tabor)

Quest has a high basketball IQ seeing the play before it happens has such a calm demeanor about him never got rattled made everyone around him better and shot lights out. He had good bounce, burst and balanced floor game displayed consistent shot making from mid-range and beyond the three-point line. He played well off ball screen understanding angles and change of pace to make a play. Aldridge did a good job moving off the ball to create easy open shots for himself also was active on the glass used his length on defense to make it harder for smaller guards to get they shot off. Playing in one of the toughest conferences in the state I look for Quest to have a big season.

6’2 2020 Justin Wright (Farmville Central)

Wright is a smooth operator well built guard which allows him to use his body to get into the paint where he finishes well around the rim with contact with either hand. Wright very confident with the ball in his hands showcased a consistent jump shot scoring whenever he wanted but also found time to make everyone around him better with timely assist. His activeness on both ends helped create offense with defense and rebounding. Wright is part of a monster backcourt that will be ring chasing this year and with Wright as the lead man they have a great chance I look for him to pick up many more offers along the way.

2019 5’10 Bryson Childress (North Stanly)

Bryson is a player that plays hard constantly with a strong work ethic and is a fun player to watch. He plays with a high level of confidence and plays with a chip and will not back down from any challenge Childress can really spread the floor one game in particular he made 5 in the 1st half and finished with another 2 in the 2ndhalf. He is quick and excelled at penetrating and finishing with floaters or drawing contact to get to the free throw line. Childress showed solid feel as the primary ball handler and looked to find passing angles for his guys in the post.

2020 6’4 Zavian Mclean (Village Christian)

Zavian is a young man with good size who can play either guard position displayed great finishing abilities around the rim made a living pulling up in the midrange. He was constantly active and played with a great motor with constant movement without the ball to put him in scoring situations while hitting from beyond 3point line with a high rate. Took pride at the defensive end to get stops being able to defend 1-3 with his athleticism, length and defensive instincts, rebound and get out in transition.

2020 6’2 Omarion Johnson (Eastern Guilford)

When you play for a coach who demands you to play hard it’s no wonder even at 6’2 Johnson was the leading rebounder for the team on the day. Johnson doesn’t do anything great but he does so many things good it’s hard to keep him off the floor. Johnson ran the floor well battled on boards caused numerous turnovers and deflections. Was effective in pick and pop situations and hit those with regular consistency. You win with guys like Johnson on your team a player who doesn’t worry about stats he just wants to win.
