Jeff Bendel has been preaching it, Rick Lewis has been saying it, and I’ve been letting people know' 2022 Davion Cunningham is one that could blow up this summer and in the coming years.'

Why might you have missed him before'

Well, North Meck was loaded with talent last year but now with the losses they will have, he should be one of the go-to figures for that program down the road.' He already was showing his game playing JV last season; I was able to get my first glimpse of him when he went for 39 points at home.' But Phenom Hoops has been catching him on multiple occasions before that and one can just see that Cunningham has something in him that college coaches will want to see.

Now, he will be one of the focal points at North Meck and he is getting his chance to shine with Team Charlotte 16u, one of the top travel ball teams in the country this year.

This summer though, he is just giving us a glimpse of what we may see for the next two years with this young man and he is having fun doing so.

'This summer has been crazy but fun,' Cunningham told Phenom Hoops.' 'It started as not knowing if we will even have a season to playing almost every weekend. I love how Phenom made something happen and got us to play and showcase our talent in front of coaches while still be safe.' I have been able to show my skill and proven how hard I've been working this offseason. I was excited just to get back out there, especially ending out school season short and being stuck in quarantine.'

When you ask Cunningham about his game, he would tell you that he can contribute on both sides of the floor, playing hard and bringing lots of energy.' He plays with tremendous speed and pace, pushing the tempo and attacking aggressively.' He also likes to be a pass-first guy, setting up his teammates while also knowing that he can score at will on multiple levels.' Cunningham likes to take pride on the defensive side of the ball as well.

Once you watch this young man's game, you can see he has talent to play at the next level.  It is why Robert Morris jumped on him quickly with his first offer.

'It was great, it felt amazing,' he said when they offered.  'It feels good to know somebody notices how hard you been working and see something in you.  They told me they were impressed with my game and he like the way I play.'

But we can almost guarantee that this won't be the only offer on the table for Cunningham down the road, as schools like Mercer, NC Central, Western Carolina, Catawba, and Georgia State have also expressed interest his way.

That list should continue to grow though and right now, he is just giving us a small taste of what we will be hearing a lot about over the next few years.
