Rewinding back a few years ago, fans had a chance to watch an under-valued prospect in Durham, North Carolina in Southern's Antonio Daye Jr. Daye played his first three years at Southern high school, putting up some impressive numbers late (averaged 19 points per game as a junior) before heading down to Florida for a season.'

Daye ultimately grabbed the attention of FIU, where he was one of the top freshmen in the conference and averaged 8.3 points per game.  He continued to improve, gain experience and knowledge, and eventually ended up playing in 22 games and averaging 17.1 points per game in 2020-21.

Daye though hit the transfer portal and was certainly a hot target for many, as he ultimately decided to commit to Fordham and he hasn't skipped a beat yet.  Playing so far in 12 games and starting in 11 of them, Daye has had his best season to date so far, averaging 35.1 minutes, 17.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, all while shooting 46.2 percent from the floor.

Reminding myself of his game back in high school, I remember that this young man was such a fearless guard on the floor, one that played with a ton of toughness, and showcased his ability to score the ball, create for himself, be a strong finisher, and a vocal leader on the court. And he continues to bring that same energy and skillset to the college leve.

That is why it is no surprise in seeing Daye continue to find success at the next level with his new program. And honestly, this is a young man that many players can learn from the message he sends out and the success that he has found.
