Some may wonder why we are looking at such a big-time prospect in the class of 2024 and saying that people need to jump on board now. Yes, Powell is one of the top prospects in his class and has the attention of many fans around the state of North Carolina. But what we mean is that college programs at all levels should be making Powell a bigger priority for his game and national outlets should be looking to put him more in the discussion of a national prospect.
Right now, it is crazy to think that Powell only holds two offers from NC State and Appalachian State, two tremendous schools. But this is a young man that should already be holding double-digit offers already from college programs.
Why do we say that'
Watching Powell over the last year and his development, he may be one of the best two-way players out there in the country for his class. Using all of his 6'6 frame, Powell can be a nightmare matchup for opponents, especially with his smooth and confident pull-up game from three and mid-range, his ability to finish at the rim, his unselfishness on the court, his understanding, and his highly-underrated defensive impact on the court. We have watched this young man, when locked in as much as he can be, be a difference-maker on the defensive end and a lockdown defender. Add on top of how special he is on the offensive end and how effortless he makes it look, Powell should be a target for so many programs at the highest of levels.
