Phenom Hoops has been reviewing film this summer, looking to find new names and talent in the next wave of talent. Finding new names in the class of 2027, we recently watched Martin Brothers Select in Rock Hill (SC) and a player that really stood out in my eyes was 2027 6’5 Bryer Putman from Wilton High School.
If you want to talk about production, Putman was the most consistent player that we saw on the court. Time after time, this was a player that put in the work and competed. He found ways to move without the ball and create opportunities, he was comfortable in operating with his back to the basket at times but also operated from multiple positions, and showed a good skillset/footwork in finding ways to score around defenders especially inside. But he can score from inside and out, being comfortable in stepping out and knocking it down but also doing the dirty work down in the paint. Add on top of that his activity level on the boards, battling and showing grit around the basket on both sides, and his competitive nature, Putman brings a lot of value to the court.
Finding more about him this past high school season, his stats simply back up what we saw. Putman had an extremely impressive freshman season, averaging 17.1ppg, 10.7rpg, 2.8spg, 2.7apg, and 2.5bpg as he continues to add more and develop. But for a player in the class of 2027, he should be one to watch out for in Iowa.
