Each year, the promise of young, up-and-coming freshmen leads to incredible optimism throughout the state. Although countless coaches have shown a willingness to play their young prospects early on, there are only about five to ten guys annually who actually have the ability to dominate during their first high school season. Currently, guys like Eli Ellis, Zy'Micah Wilkins, Colt Langdon, and (though injured) Gevonte Ware, among various others have the attention of the state'and rightfully so, as their respective production warrants headlines. However, it seems like not enough folks are talking about 6-foot-6 John Lash (Charlotte Christian), his production, and the growing likelihood of him becoming a Division I prospect.'

Starting with the raw numbers, Lash is posting nightly averages of 14.6 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 2.3 SPG while shooting 69% from the floor. For reference, he's already outproducing someone as talented as Joseph Ferrante (a personal favorite) across the board from his junior season. It was widely accepted that the strong, skilled 6-foot-9 forward with interior instincts and face-up ability could've played at a slew of different high-level programs, so why not Lash' It's definitely early in the process, but the production isn't a result of luck or circumstance. Flashback to the summer when folks were just gushing about his teammates on Team Charlotte, even though Lash was (and still is) the most productive guy on the roster. He was posting games of 20+ points and 10+ rebounds in a casual manner. Sure, plenty of guys with his size and physical nature tend to get whatever they want against other middle-school players, but Lash simply wasn't bulldozing his way into high scoring totals.'

Between the summer and high school season, Lash has shown a reliable post arsenal with the blend of IQ, motor, and toughness to naturally find production alongside any collection of players. He moves extremely well for his size, especially at his age, and utilizes his body very well on both ends of the floor. Lash displays strength, footwork, touch with either hand, and the ability to knock down the occasional perimeter jumper. He possesses a clear nose for the ball, and constantly muscles his way into rebounding opportunities. Lash plays hard, makes quality decisions with the ball, and already knows how to lead by example. He also plays with somewhat of a chip on his shoulder, which goes hand-in-hand with his rugged, competitive identity. Lash is said to be a notable baseball player, so it's looking like he will have plenty of options at the next level'regardless of what sport he chooses to pursue.'
