The most anticipated game of 2022 happened tonight in Raleigh, with the Word of God Holy Rams matching up against the Prolific Prep Crew. The crowd was into it and so were the players, as seen by the 9-9 score after just two minutes of play. WoG's Alabama commit Davin Cosby Jr. got going early scoring five in the first few minutes, while Prolific's Xavier commit Trey Green did the same. The first quarter was a close affair, with neither team pulling away. Prolific was able to score via great shot making and getting to the line. Word of God got their points on the offensive glass and in transition. A Freddie Dilione missed three at the buzzer ended the first with Prolific up 22-19, Trey Green led all scorers with 8. The second quarter started with Prolific building a slight lead, getting it up to five at one point. 2025 Zion Collins changed the game on the defensive end for WoG, chasing Green all over the court on each possession and giving him everything he could handle. Around the same time, Dilione had started finding his teammates over and over, including a Cosby Jr. three to cap a 9-0 run and give the Holy Rams a four-point lead. WoG struggled with interior foul trouble for most of the first half, with multiple players picking up two or more fouls in the half. A Mayar Wol putback layup with 20 seconds left would be the final points of the half and would give Word of God a 39-35 lead going into the break. Cosby Jr. led all scorers with 14 points (on 4/5 shooting, all threes). Trey Green led Prolific with 11 points; Zion Sensley added 10 as well.
In the second half, the game slowed to a crawl, with six fouls being called in the first three minutes. A Zion Sensley and-1 with 2:17 left in the quarter made it a one-point advantage for the Crew. Isaiah Washington and Trey Green traded threes to end the quarter and Prolific came out of the third up 55-53. Despite the lead, Zion Sensley came up limping, hopping around on his left leg and didn't go back in to start the last quarter. Green came out again and hit his fifth three of the game, giving the Crew their biggest lead of the half at five. Freddie Dilione picked up his fourth foul soon after and Zion Collins subbed him out with just over seven minutes to play. 30 seconds later, big man Jamal Brown also picked up his fourth. Despite the foul trouble, the Holy Rams traded possessions before a Collins layup and a Nwoko travel gave them the ball down by one with 5:17 left in the game. Prolific prevailed and eventually hit three straight threes to go up 73-65, the biggest lead of the game. Aden Holloway was responsible for two of them and Trey Green hit his sixth three (a high for the week) during the run. Word of God hung around for a while but the deficit was too much as Prolific ended up winning 81-74 and securing the TJ Warren Championship and keeping coach Ryan Bernardi undefeated in the tournament.
