5’10” 2021 Jason Nelson of John Marshall (Richmond, VA)
There is something about Nelson that just exudes winning. He gets wherever he wants on the floor, he is a shot-maker from every level and he has court vision and a craftiness about his game that just gets things done. He most recently visited Vanderbilt, walking away with an offer (to join the likes of Richmond, VCU, Drexel and others. Nelson is also a high academic kid to boot, with multiple Ivy League schools checking in. With Chris Lykes paving the way for smaller guards right now, it will be fun to watch what other schools jump on board here.
6’6″ 2022 Justin Taylor of St Anne’s Belfield (Charlottesville, VA)
Taylor may have been the best long term prospect in this camp. He has all the tools and skills of a Top 100 type player that Power 7 schools are salivating over. Taylor has a solid wing handle, with deep and effortless range as well as athleticism and toughness on defense. He already has the frame of a college guy and everyone around him raves about his work ethic. Multiple early offers, with the likes of Virginia, Memphis, and Maryland already in on him. This one is very good.
6’7″ 2022 Tyler Nickel of East Rockingham (Massanutten, VA)
Nickel is skilled, for sure, but he is also athletic and plays with a non-stop motor. He showcased a smooth jump shot off the catch, he finished above the rim when attacking the basket and he was able to grab and go off the boards. A lot to like here with Nickel, which is why he has early offers from the likes of JMU and Virginia Tech. Hard to believe he has three full seasons left of school ball, but here we are. Watch closely, he will put up numbers.
6′ 2020 Andrew Shull of Chapmanville Regional (Chapmanville, WV)
No matter the setting; camp, high school or travel ball, Shull goes out and gets it done. He is a gifted offensive player, going for over 30 in his second game and over 18 in each game. He doesn’t turn the ball over as a point guard, showcasing excellent vision and court sense. In this camp, he showcased the ability to really guard the ball. A true point guard, who can really shoot/score it, dish out assists to make teammates better and defend the ball at the point of attack … Oh yeah, he is also 57-3 with two state championships over the last two seasons … Yep, he should have 10+ scholarship offers by this point.
6′ 2020 William Lee of Blue Ridge School (St Georges, VA)
Lee made this list based on one trait, he was far and away the best shooter in the camp. Each game he would have someone come at him, try and go back and forth, and each game Lee would just come out slinging 3s. It was an impressive onslaught for the long-armed guard who averaged 23 points per game for the camp. One thing is for certain, he is a college-level player.
