5'10 rising senior James Lovorn is a high IQ, cerebral and crafty point guard. We've seen him in numerous settings, whether it is travel ball, high school, or in a camp setting. Each time the result is the same. Lovorn continues to impress. We saw him at the Upward Stars Skills Day and just recently at the Savage Academy's 'Open Run' featuring many of the top players in the state regardless of class.

Going to his senior season, Lovorn has already surpassed the 1000th point mark and has earned a D1 offer from Presbyterian and a D2 offer from Anderson. We're talking about a point guard that has impeccable court vision and terrific passing abilities. More importantly, Lovorn rarely makes a bad decision and we have also been impressed with his overall decision-making in the two most recent outings.

One of Lovorn's strongest attributes is his patience. Open runs allow players to showcase their individual one-on-one moves and ball-dominant guards usually have a 'field day.' First of all, Lovorn always seems to be in control. He plays with poise and pace and allows the game come to him and never plays outside his comfort zone.

Unlike most lead guards with his ball-handling and passing skills, Lovorn can slide over to the off-guard position. He doesn't have to have the ball in his balls to make an impact. Lovorn moves well without the ball and does an excellent job of 'doing his work early' when it comes to shot preparation. Lovorn has excellent footwork and has outstanding touch and range.

At the Savage Academy “Open Run,” Lovorn showcased his outstanding perimeter shooting by knocking down 3-pointers with consistency. Whether it is ball handling, passing, or shot-making ability, Lovorn has continued to impress. Look for his offer list to grow!
