A lot of people may not remember, Jamarii Thomas missed his entire sophomore season due to a knee injury. He bounced back last summer and continued his stellar play throughout the high school season. With the COVID-19 pandemic, we had very few opportunities to watch and evaluate players. That hasn't been the case with Jamarii Thomas since he's been running with Team Curry. We got a chance to watch him at On the Radar 'The Opening' and again in person at 'Pro Skills Play Day. Sporting one D1 offer from Winthrop, look for that to change, sooner rather than later.

First of all, there may not be a bigger competitor in the state than Thomas. A broad statement, yes, but one that is said with confidence; maybe as much confidence as Thomas plays the game. Standing a strong, muscular, and athletic 5'11, Thomas is so explosive. He has the ability to get into the lane and drop a crowd-pleasing two-handed dunk. In addition, Thomas has excellent body control and has the ability to finish efficiently at the rim or drop off passes to open teammates.

Most point guards get most of their accolades on the offensive side of the ball, Thomas is also a tough, 'in your face' on-ball defender. He has outstanding lateral quickness, strong and lengthy arms, not to mention quick hands that simply agitate the opposing ball handler. Thomas has good instincts, leaping ability and has the ability to anticipate passing lanes. In addition, he is an excellent rebounding point guard that is also not afraid to dive on the floor for a loose ball. Phenom's own Colby Lewis stated it best, 'Jamarii Thomas is a dawg! I'd want him on my team. Big time competitor. Always plays like he has something to prove.' In basketball, there are things you just can’t teach, and for Thomas, he plays with passion and purpose.
