Last season, we got a chance to watch then freshman point guard Jaiden Thompson during our Phenom Open Gym Tour. We wrote the following, 'Jaiden Thompson will be a welcomed new addition to the Central Cabarrus team. The freshmen point guard will be asked to play huge minutes and be the team's undeniable team leader. Thompson has the ball on a string and is terrific at reading and coming off ball screens. Thompson should provide a cool, yet calming effect to this team.''As a freshman, Thompson was a starter on a team that finished 17-10. He averaged 7 PPG, 3 APG, 3 RPG, and event 3 SPG. More importantly Central Cabarrus advanced to the state playoffs and enjoyed one playoff win, which was the school's first in over a decade.'

In speaking with his high school coach, Jim Baker, he stated the following. 'Jaiden is phenomenal young man. He listens with his eyes and you only have to tell him something once! Jaiden will look you in the eye and always reply with a yes sir or no sir. He's so responsible and can get things done in the heat of the battle. I'm been so impressed with his poise, maturity. He's a smart, high IQ and the sky's the limit. He just needed to get stronger, which he has done and is now dunking the ball.'

While Thompson has enjoyed tremendous success on the basketball court as a freshman, he has enjoyed equal success in the classroom. Thompson sports an impressive 3.75 GPA and was ranked in the Top 5% of his class at Central Cabarrus. In addition, Thompson also received the Chad Johnson Scholarship for being an outstanding student with high character.
