2023 6’9 Mekhi Grant has been a name circling the state as one of the top prospects in North Carolina in a loaded class and is now becoming a bigger national name. However, it just may be the start for this young man, as he recently earned a big offer and his first ACC offer from Kevin Keatts and NC State.
Grant brings such an intriguing game to the floor at such a young age. He is an athletic, lean, mobile forward that brings a skillset that only continues to develop. He utilizes his length really well on the defensive end and plays incredibly hard, finishing at the rim and playing through contact.
Playing at Combine Academy as well under Jeff McInnis and against some of the top players in the state down low this past season and what he will face in the coming years, Grant should only continue to understand what it takes to play at a high level when his time comes down the road to play at the next level.
NC State didn’t waste any time with an offer for the rising sophomore, as they join Wichita State in his recruitment. But this looks to only be the start for this young man and expect several other programs to join in his recruitment.
What has been said by Phenom Hoops:
“What’s not to like about a physically gifted and athletic power forward. Grant has the ability to overpower opposing players in the post. He has a solid skill set which will only improve over time, but plays with a blue-collar mentality. He’s a workhorse and runs the floor extremely well and often finishes with crowd pleasing dunks.” – Rick Lewis
“t is hard to believe when you look at the size and length of Grant that he is only a freshman. Grant checks off a lot of boxes early on. He is athletically gifted and screams versatility on both ends of the floor. Grant has a nice blend of strength as well as being smooth on the floor, while also being able to defend multiple positions on the court. This young man is only scratching the surface and will be a big name in the state of North Carolina in the coming years.” – Patrick O’Brien
