Issiah McLean is a name that isn’t thought of as one of the top passers in the 2018 class in NC, but this kid put that ability on display for the Phenom Hoops staff and all in attendance on Sunday in Greensboro that was something to behold of.  I was first introduced to McLean when his South Granville squad handled Granville Central in their conference tournament a few weeks back and I was intrigued by a kid that was the clear vocal leader of a talented squad featuring Freshman Phenom Bobby Pettiford.  McLean reminds me of Theo Pinson in the way he interracts with his teammates on and off the court, just a genuine fun loving guy that likes to get his guys involved despite not always being the primary ball handler.  McLean is 6’1, a capable shooter, one of the 10 best passers I’ve seen all year, and more importantly brings an infectious positive attitude that translates to the court.  Coaches around the region looking for a late addition to their class need to inquire about Issiah before it’s too late.  He has previously played AAU with Garner Road and he might play again in the April Live Period to garner some last minute interest.

McLean found a way to have fun, win games, and earn the playmaker award this past Sunday in what felt like easy work.  Hopefully his hard work pays off with an opportunity in the next few weeks, I certainly believe that the coach that get’s him will be incredibly happy with the player and most importantly young man they’re bringing in to the program.

Stay tuned for a brand new episode of Amateur Hour coming out tomorrow, and some exciting stuff from the Stay Positive Classic in Greensboro this weekend!
