Phenom Hoops was on deck this past weekend for the Tyler Lewis Hoopfest, which brought a ton of talent to the court for our scouts to check out more. Plenty of players were the talk of the event, but one of the biggest discussions we had at Phenom Hoops is the potential and upside that 2028 6’6 AD Dalton has at Forsyth Country Day.
Could he be the best freshman big man here in North Carolina? How high is his ceiling? What could he ultimately be in the end?
These were all questions we walked away with and all were fair, as Dalton has continued to make a statement and left a lasting memory on our scouts early on.
When you talk about his game, there is so much to like early on. First off, he has a frame and physical attributes that should only continue to develop and translate well to the next level; he plays with a physical feel, embraces contact, and can body up defenders with his frame and strength early on. Dalton understands how to operate well down in the post as a freshman, sealing his opponents deep, carving out space and being physical, imposing his strength on the boards and offensively. But then you watch him in other areas as well; he is comfortable from the perimeter in stretching the floor, can make plays off the bounce at times, runs the floor well and gets to his spots, and brings a physical presence on the defensive end.
All these attributes as a freshman are quite impressive and with him standing at 6’6 already, we could just be starting the conversation. There is no doubt about it, Dalton has the potential to be something special and be one of the best bigs to come out of his class if he continues to trend in the right direction. Right now, it seems to be heading that way as he could potentially get bigger and even stronger, and he has a frame that would really translate well at the next level. Add on top of his skill set and development, Dalton has a chance to be the NEXT MAN UP here in North Carolina and you heard it here first from Phenom Hoops
