Battle of 1st Round Picks: PJ Washington vs. Rui Hachimura

There were thoughts at the NBA Draft that Hachimura could have been the pick for the Hornets but they decided to go with PJ Washington.  So, it was a nice test to see what both rookies had and how they might match up.  Check out the full stats lines from each.

Washington: 40 minutes/ 15pts (5-13)/ 3-9 from 3/ 4 rebounds/ 3 assists/ 4 turnovers/ +29
Hachimura: 33 minutes/ 18pts (7-16)/ 12 rebounds/ 2 assists/ -30

It was the most minutes Washington has played this season at 40 minutes and is now averaging 30 minutes of action in the month of December.

Bismack Biyombo may have had his best overall game

Biyombo only played 24 minutes but he was incredibly productive scoring and on the glass in those minutes, finishing with 13 points and 15 rebounds.  It is the 11th time he has finished in double figures and his second double-double game this year (his last coming against Chicago on November 23).

Devonte Graham comes up big in the 4th quarter

Graham continues to be one of the biggest surprises in the NBA but just continues to show that he is an absolute bucket-getter and shot-maker on the floor. With the Wizards eventually taking the lead in the fourth quarter, Graham continued to step up with 14 big points in just eight minutes of time. He went 4-for-6 from the floor, 2-for-2 from three, and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. In the end, he led the Hornets in scoring with 29 points.

Tidbits for Washington Wizards:

  • Davis Bertans continues to have a tremendous month of December so far, finishing the night with a career-high 32 points on 11-for-18 shooting and 8-for-12 from three. In the month of December, he is averaging 22 points per game for the Wizards
