Full Team Evaluations of each player from the Indy Top 80

#2 5’5” 2017 Jalen Sherwood of Merrillville HS (Merrillville)
Sherwood was, without question, the most tenacious on ball defender in the camp. Opposing teams had trouble getting the ball to half court when he was going full court. He is a very tough nosed kid and a natural and vocal leader. Sherwood’s camp coach Issac Loechle stated, “Jalen is a very tough nosed kid who plays both ends extremely hard. He loves to defend!”

#16 5’9” 2017 Justin Williams of Pike HS (Indianapolis)
Williams came into camp with a solid attitude and a fundamental skill set. He was most comfortable shooting the ball, showing range well beyond the arc. Williams camp coach Issac Loechle stated, “Justin can really shoot the 3 ball and as he continues to diversify his offensive skill set he could really be an effective player.”

#19 6’1” 2018 Mason Hamby of Manchester HS (North Manchester)
Hamby is a high IQ guard, who gave maximum effort throughout camp. He was adept at finishing at all 3 levels and always seemed to find himself in the right place, in position. Hamby’s camp coach Issac Loechle stated, “Mason has a good frame and is a very smart player. He knows how to use his size to his benefit and is a very good shooter/scorer as well.”

#35 6’1” 2018 Jabali Leonard of DECA (Dayton, OH)
Leonard is a tough nosed scoring lead guard. He has a very strong frame and a great skill set to score the basketball. Leonard moved well off the ball as he showed strength to finish at the rim and the range to beyond the arc. Leonard’s camp coach Issac Loechle stated, “Jabali is a very good guard with a great feel for the game. He can shoot the 3 ball well as well as get to the basket.”

#38 5’10” 2018 Garrett Silcott of Connersville HS (Connorsville)
Silcott is a great leader who gives great effort on both ends of the floor. He shot the ball with range and delivered great passes setting up his team mates. Silcotts camp coach Issac Loechle stated, “Garrett is a very smart and coachable player. He does all the small things which coaches love. He is craft and makes shots.”

#53 6’3” 2017 Kyle Grennes of Morgan TWP (Valparaiso)
Grennes is a high effort kid who has a nice basketball IQ. He moves very well off the ball and showed a willingness to stick his nose in there and defend the ball. Grennes camp coach Isaac Loechle stated, “Kyle is a very coachable player and a hard worker. He makes winning play on both ends of the floor and you can count on him to make an open shot.”

#56 6’1” 2017 Sam McCloskey of Heritage Christian (Indianapolis)
McCloskey is a high IQ player who plays very well within the team concept. He got back well in transition defense, picking up the ball, and did well in pass and cut situations. McCloskey’s camp coach Isaac Loechley stated, “Sam is crafty around the basket and a great team defender. He was a very good team mate.”

#71 6’4” 2019 Mason Shifflett of Wesley Christian (Shepherdsville)
Shifflett is a highly fundamental player who played with a high basketball IQ. His shot preparation was great and he found his hot spots, moving well off the ball. Shifflett’s camp coach Isaac Loechle stated, “Mason is a very good catch and shoot wing. He was strong with the ball and crafty around the rim. Mason moved well off the ball.”

#73 6’6 2019 Cobie Barnes of Floyd Central HS (New Albany)
Barnes has great length and explosion and when you couple that with his skill set you have an incredibly productive player. Barnes was a 2-way producer as he scored on 3 levels, rebounded, and defended the wing with a high motor. Barnes’ camp coach Isaac Loechle stated, “Cobie is a very good player! When he gets downhill, he scores almost every time. He has a great motor and is super talented. Great kid, great leader.”

#87 6’8” 2017 Ben Kinker of Oldenburg Academy (Greenburg)
Kinker is a versatile player who has great skill and great length. While on the thin side, he showed the ability to consistently score at all 3 levels and he was an active rebounder. Kinker’s camp coach Isaac Loechle stated, “Ben is very talented, as far as skill set goes, for a kid at 6’8”. He is long and athletic and he can flat out shoot the rock. Super skilled!”
