Phenom Hoops was in Indiana,as the top players met in one spot. These are some of the standouts from IndyTop80

One of the many great things about the Top 80 events we do is it provides a platform for everyone to be seen. Of course you have the McDonald’s All American and Top 100 kids who attend, but you also have the kids that people haven’t heard of yet the ability to compete.

This year’s Indiana Top 80 was no different. We had the kids committed to Power 5 schools and ranked in the nation’s Top 100, but we also had players who were not – step up and, in some cases, outplay the others.

Competition brings out the best (or worst) in people. Here are some who stepped up to the challenge

6’9” 2019 Sydney Curry
Bishop Luers (Fort Wayne)

Curry is a high level post player. The lefty has great touch, which pairs nicely with his great set of hands and advanced footwork. He also showed the ability to face up and get to the basket from multiple areas on the court. He is 6’9” with a 7’ wing span, and a 30+” standing vertical, all in all we expect to see Curry recruited at the highest level.

6’11” 2018 Gavin Bizeau
Plainfield HS (Plainfield)

What a unique talent. Bizeau showed off wing skills on the offensive end. He had great handle and court vision, to go along with the ability to shoot with deep range and get to the rim in the half court. He will need to continue adding strength, but with his length, defensive timing, and ball skills there is a lot to like here. His recruitment should take off with Power 5 schools firmly in the mix.

6’2” 2017 Mateo Rivera
North Central HS (Indianapolis)

Awarded Mr Playmaker, Rivera is the consummate leader. On the court he makes everyone on his team better, off the court he is always surrounded by a crowd of friends and smiling. During the camp he showed great defensive instincts with steals and deflections throughout. He has a smooth looking jump shot and is able to get to the rim. Rivera’s has great bloodlines as he is the brother of Devonta Smith Rivera. D1 schools need to peek in here asap and look to get a steal.

6’8” 2017 Mileek McMillan
Merriville HS (Merriville)

What a difference a year makes. Last year, McMillan came to this event as a high flying 6’5” wing. This year, he came in as a 6’8” inside/outside 4 man. McMIllan was able to face up and attack the basket, he also showed great footwork and a couple go-to moves on the block. He was awarded Mr Defense due to his great timing and ability to rebound. Like Rivera, D1 schools need to get in here quickly and look to get a steal.

6’ 2019 Luke Bumbalough
New Castle HS (New Castle)

Bumbalough is a play maker. He has a deadly shot with deep range and confidence that oozes. Although slightly built, he has a great handle of the ball and is a threat to pull up at any point in the half court setting. Bumbalough is very intriguing, but will turn heads with high scoring outputs and his ability to see the floor and attack. He is a sure fire D1 player, and his physical growth will determine at which level.
